ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 16TH OF 2026

 Hello lovely people tis Friday time to clock the silver linings and positive moments from the last 7 days

Well we had a blue skies and windy day the other day and I was immensely grateful to get the washing, washed and dried in a single day, it has been a while since that last happened. 

Then on Sunday we ventured to YSP, mainly because we really wanted to visit the new exhibition in the chapel by the artist Nicola Turner called 'Time Scythe' she did some work for the latest Wuthering Height film, so I was intrigued to see her work in person and loved that this extended the book experience, I read a while ago about enhancing experiences and I've been mindful to try and do that where possible.  

I also watched the Wuthering Heights from 2009 with Tom Hardy over the weekend, more akin to the original book and finished the retelling of Wuthering Heights which was extremely good.

We had a lovely walk around the park and saw some beautiful cherry blossom

and bluebells, but these definitely seem to be appearing earlier each year.

We also grabbed a selfie

My order for a crochet kit for a cardigan arrived, time will tell whether this was a sensible (or crazy) purchase, but up to now I'm feeling quite positive about it. 

Tuesday evening we went to Cast in Doncaster to see Macbeth.  It was a strange version it has to be said if I'm honest and the first half felt quite disjointed, but the second half was better and overall it was an interesting watch. 

Thursday I had physio in the morning, grateful for the progress I've made with the issue with my heel I'm hoping to make some more progress before I see him next. 

We then had a lovely afternoon, I spent it fighting with a granny square, I've never made a granny square before and so the video tutorial has been an absolute blessing, hubby in the meantime was silversmithing and it proved a lovely gentle afternoon. 

Then in the evening we went for pre-theatre dining at the local college restaurant, we both selected the same starter which was grilled prawns on a polenta cake

then we both chose the beef olives for main it was served with Romanesco and parsnip crisps

and then we chose differently for dessert, hubby went with banana fritter with rum and raisin served with a ginger ice cream 

and I went for the chocolate dessert, which was a chocolate cake with a thick mousse like topping and shavings of white chocolate it was absolutely stunning to eat 

and then we went off to the theatre to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which was a fun watch

And that is my lot for this week, I hope yours has been good. 

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 24TH OF 2025

 Afternoon all tis Friday time for 

So last Friday we had a very busy day baking, as we eat limited amounts of UPF these days, this meant not only baking orange drizzle, lemon drizzle, cinnamon cake and a chocolate birthday cake but also hubby made the bread for the get together and cooked a ham. 

Then Saturday morning we brought everything together and put on a tea party for my sister's birthday that had been on the Thursday.  It was lovely to get together and catch up and there was little left in the way of leftovers which is always a good sign.

On Sunday I went to a local church hall to do a hand tied bouquet class.  My sister, daughter-in-law and niece all went as well.  We had a fun few hours getting our heads around creating this with the expert help of a friend who is a florist.  My hand was mighty tired when I had completed it as it was so heavy.

My niece was a natural when it came to the bouquet but my daughter-in-law had more of a fight to create it.

Monday and back into work mode, another very busy week but I got a number of items ticked off my to do list and had a good couple of meetings which was great. 

On Thursday we had a trip to Ikea, we are working on one of our spare bedrooms to turn it into another reading room/yoga/meditation room and we had stalled as we weren't sure which way to go, but thankfully we are off and running again, so an expensive trip there. 

In the evening we went for pre-theatre dining, the last one of the college year, we had a prawn cocktail starter and chicken chasseur main and then hubby had the crumble dessert and I went with the cheesecake which was sublime! 

Then we headed to theatre to watch 

Which was a fun one man show explaining 5 mistakes in history, all of which I genuinely didn't know about.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 23RD OF 2025

 Good afternoon tis Friday time to clock the silver linings 

Last Friday we had a funeral, always a sad occasion and for as hard as it is that a person is no longer here, it is always the hole they leave behind and the sadness of the family that genuinely hurts.  So how can it make my rocking post this week, because the daughters who read something during the service were amazing, knowing how hard that is to do having done that at my Mum's funeral with my sister last year I know it takes a lot of courage to see it through. 

It was also nice to catch up with family after the service, some we haven't seen in quite some time, unfortunately it seems there are more funerals that christenings or weddings these days. 

Sunday and hubby picked up his new glasses, he is still getting used to them, varifocals are never easy to acclimatise to. 

It was Monday soon enough and lots of work on this week, although I had a good couple of meetings and some positive feedback so definitely popping that in the rocking post, it was nice to feel genuinely appreciated for the work I've been doing. 

Wednesday night and we went out to the local college restaurant for pre-theatre dining and then we headed to the theatre to watch Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time.  I wasn't sure if we would enjoy it, but it was genuinely incredibly well done.

Thursday was my sisters birthday, we had a slow day overall if I'm honest and then went out for a meal in the evening which was grand, there were 7 of us in total.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 11TH OF 2025

 Good afternoon everyone, at this rate I'm going to have to rename my blog post with the word Saturday in it apologies - time for

So first up last Friday was another work day (so we will ignore that) but Saturday was a fun family get together, the majority gathering at ours for a pancake party.  Hubby made 3 batches of pancakes making 64 pancakes between us (more than ample and we froze the left overs).  There was plenty of fruit and chocolate and biscuit spreads and my future sister in law brought savoury.  My step-Dad came so that was lovely as well and it was a great afternoon, nattering and catching up - much needed. 

Hubby also made a batch of mince pies - with his homemade mincemeat putting a festive snowflake on top to wind my sister up as she had noticed him humming Christmas carols earlier in the week, despite knowing this is something he refuses to do in the festive season - you have to laugh

Sunday we headed to YSP and I'd seen on a recent feed a number of sculptures I genuinely did not recognise, so we went in search

We also saw some spring flowers which made me smile

Then we headed into the centre for a new exhibition, hubby wasn't keen and whilst some of the images were very 'flat' I loved the colours

Monday arrived very quickly and I was still pulled out with work, so was glad when Wednesday arrived as we had tickets to the local theatre and pre-theatre dining. 

For starter (which I forgot to photograph) we had garlic mushrooms on sourdough

This was main, the chicken breast was huge and very disproportionate to the potato

And dessert was chocolate brownie my sister wanted to know why they'd put cress on it, but I tasted it and realised it was lemon balm which made more sense.

Then off to see West Side Story done by a local group with young people, it was very good with some amazing voices, but genuinely a really sad story with it being based on Romeo and Juliet.

Thursday marked the one year anniversary of my Mum passing away, I knew it would be a difficult day and it was.  We decided to head over to my Step-Dad's house and repaint my Mum's old bedroom for him, something I had promised last year.  It felt to a degree like the end of an era, getting rid of the remains of her make up which was no longer needed, bits of medication that were still in the room and some pyjamas, there were plenty of tears shed it has to be said.  But being in her space and sharing it with hubby, sister and step-Dad felt like a safe space to do so if I'm honest. 

In amongst the things, we found a couple of notebooks of Mums and it felt like little messages from her if I'm honest.
