Well last Friday we were due to go to see a Christmas Carol inside Sheffield Cathedral with my sister, but being a nurse she often picks up bugs at this time of year, so alas she couldn't make it. Me and hubby went anyway and enjoyed a wander around the Sheffield Christmas market albeit that most of it was stalls to either eat or drink, we also wandered a couple of shops on our way around. We had a naughty tea in McDonalds and then headed to the Cathedral. The show was done by the Chapterhouse theatre group and was fantastic, the only down side were church pews for two and a half hours, my back isn't what it was.
We had woken to a bright blue skies day, but Jack Frost had been painting on the windows
We had a wander around to the Church in the afternoon for the Christmas tree festival and enjoyed taking photos of the frost
The festival was brilliant as always, I love the handmade items for the trees, they do make me smile from one-eyed donkeys
to knitted polar bears
and tiny mangers
The trees really did look beautiful
and I enjoyed a moment of pre-Christmas solace alone in God's house
Sunday was a different story we woke to a good couple of inches of snow.
and whilst it might look festive it really isn't very convenient these days. Thankfully we'd already planned a stay at home and chill day if I'm honest.
I've also started my Lego advent calendar, which really is now a bit of a tradition, although there are some days when I still have to google what the items are, thankfully Harry on the 1st was easy.
The rest of the week has been manic busy at work, including today when my primary role was peeling potatoes for chips for our volunteer get together, I've had to come home and have a shower and all my clothes are going in the wash due to the smell of chip fat. Hey ho the things you do, lol.
So this week's list isn't particularly long, but post-Covid, I don't think you'll be expecting miracles.
So first up a very quiet weekend, hubby and said 20 year old were still isolating, but we enjoyed a fire on the log burner and I managed to get a few more scrapbook layouts resolved so that was a positive.
On Monday I headed into work and whilst I plodded slowly through the day it was nice to be back doing something normal. Likewise, Tuesday was similar as I was in work again and managed to catch up on the backlog of paperwork, I also got a couple of difficult tasks resolved which is always a positive. However, a day at work meant that there wasn't a lot left of me come hometime, so it has been very much a work, eat, pj's, TV, bed, repeat kind of week. However, it has been lovely to actually have I'm a Celebrity on the TV albeit from a Castle in Wales rather than in a jungle in Australia. It has felt like the most normal thing that has happened in a while.
Another positive all the trees, indoor and outdoor lights are up, although I don't have photos at the moment, will attempt to get a few over the weekend I promise.
And my final positive for this week, hubby bought me my very own Harry Potter lego advent calendar and I love it this was from the 1st and is Harry Potter with his wand and a poster for the Yule ball with a candle. I have opened the 2nd and 3rd but haven't photographed yet (will sort and share next week)
I hope you've all had a positive week, if you fancy joining in pop a post together come back and link up and we can come and visit.
I found another draft post, this time from our day trip to the Harry Potter world just outside London.
The first one is a photo of two Thestrals, they form part of a much bigger album from the day (yes you heard me right, a whole album).
And then documenting the Knight bus, we and said 16 year old aboard the Knight bus, a photo of the exterior of the bus and one of the interior! The background papers were gelli plated papers from a while ago
And that is me officially caught up, now I need to fathom out if there are any I haven't shared! There must be some lurking somewhere!
I hope you have a fabulous day!
Have you ever done a whole album on a single day? If so what was your day about?
Good morning lovely people it has been a mighty long time since I last posted anything - apologies let us just say life is truly getting in the way.
I managed to scrapbook the couple of professional photos we had taken when we were down at Harry Potter world
The first the one on the train set
And the second in the flying car - said 16 year old didn't feel the need to ride a broomstick but was quite happy to be sat in the Ford Anglia with us!
The mornings are drawing in and the evenings and there is a decidedly cool chill to the morning today - I hope you had a splendid weekend!
Morning all, well another couple of layouts from my Harry Potter album, the first is the official photo we bought when down at Harry Potter World, don't ask me how those two ended up on Slytherin!
And the second layout documents some of the fantastic models that were created for the film.
I've recently completed scrapping the photos we took at Harry Potter world, the final pictures are that of the Hogwards model itself and lended itself to some purple papers. I had some that I'd created on my gelli plate which came in rather handy when it came to completing the pictures.
I even coloured in some of the raised purple circles on the border
Good afternoon lovely people - apologies for the delay in posting today but we have literally just landed back after a week away in the lovely county of Wiltshire.
We were quite late booking this one but had a lovely cottage for the week, although the beds were a little on the firm side for my decidedly dodgy back if you know what I mean!
However, apart from that we wanted for nothing, there was even a welcome basket with biscuits, crisps and wine in it as well as butter, milk and cheese in the fridge!
The village we stopped in was called Corsham (they filmed a lot of Poldark there apparently although we didn't watch the series ourselves). It is not far from a the National Trust village of Lacock - famed for its filming as well including Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chamber of Secrets and Half Blood Prince.
Being National Trust members we got to walk around Lacock Abbey, this is one of those knocked down during the dissolution of the monasteries and then later sold to a private owner who used the remains to build a country retreat. It was very lovely to have a walk around and the inventor of the photography lived there at some point in the dim and distant past.
Inside the great hall were terracotta statues in the niches.
And a display of costumes from the Hollow Crown series on the BBC in particular I liked the costume that Benedict Cumberbatch wore as Richard III.
This corridor was used in Harry Potter!
As was this, we saw Professor Quirrell's classroom as well as the place where the Mirror of Erised was housed - I love me a Harry Potter film location it has to be said!
We even managed a selfie in the cloisters.
We wandered the gardens and had a thoroughly lovely day!
Corsham is mighty pretty as you can see!
With a lovely church that we wandered around
And found this rather strange gravestone
We jaunted over to Fleet Air Arm museum, said 15 year old checked out the life rafts!
We got to see the second Concorde (the first British one) used for experiments at a point when they were trying to find out if it would be possible to fly super sonic.
The day after we had pre-booked tickets for Stonehenge, I will be honest and say I never actually thought I'd get to see this place. Don't ask me why. We had a fabulous few hours, walking around the stones, checking out the exhibition and enjoying the gift shop and cafe!
We were also visiting on a lovely blue sky day as you can see!
The day after and we headed to Avebury - the biggest stone circle in Britain complete with a pub and church within the circle apparently! Now here we were able to get up close to the stones (something sadly that you can no longer do at Stonehenge).
As you can see (I've no idea what I was doing but I didn't know hubby was taking the photo).
The Manor house at Avebury is famous for a BBC TV series the Manor Reborn, where the BBC were given permission to do whatever they wanted to the house. As a result all the rooms are interactive in that you climb on the beds, check out the chairs etc, because whilst the items might look old they are only about 5 years old!
Even the exercise chair was fun to try out - for those wet days when you don't want to take the horses out but still want the exercise, said 15 year old said it was strange!
Me and hubby also managed a jaunt to Stourhead, unfortunately said 15 year old was not feeling a hundred percent and so he stayed put for the day and rested watching DVDs etc.
Again we had another blue skies afternoon to explore!
And our final day (are you still with me) we went to Glastonbury. Somewhere we all fancied going. We loved the crystal shops of which there were numerous, thankfully my friend Sam had told us which was the best one to go to, so we headed there and we not disappointed!
She also recommended a wander up to the Chalice Well just outside Glastonbury, it was just what we needed to recharge our batteries if I'm honest.
And there we have it, grateful to be able to explore. Grateful that we managed to have some fun family days out with blue skies. Grateful for a lovely cottage and grateful for spending time together.
We are home, utterly shattered but feeling very positive about our lovely week away!
I hope yours has been grand, if you fancy joining pop a post together, mention that you are joining in Rocking Your World, pop back and link up and we can come and visit!
Good Morning, well it is a beautiful morning here in Yorkshire, the sky is blue and the sun is shining - a shame I've got work but hey let's celebrate the positives!
This is a layout done from the Harry Potter World photos - I finally got to use the title of Saturday - that I painted up what seems like an age ago! Just me and hubby checking out the potions classroom!
Good Morning Lovely people - tis Friday so time for
Now I will pre-warn you I'm uber light on the old photo side of things at the moment, it has been a mighty busy working week which means a lack of photos.
So this one may be short and sweet
My Mum and my hubby - for agreeing to come and give my sister a hand at her house, she is currently a student nurse and things are never easy when on that sort of budget, she has a long commute to her placement and a day at Uni, then assignments to write etc so a busy busy life at the moment. At these times lets be honest we usually have to let something slip and in the case of my sister it was the house, so me and my Mum and hubby headed over on Saturday and we spent a few hours with my sister and niece, cleaning and tidying and sorting things out and before we left on Saturday things were looking much better, the garden was strimmed by hubby, we cleaned all the bedrooms, the bathroom the living room and kitchen/dining area and we left it looking great. She was so grateful for the time we took and it makes such a difference when you've got a tidy home to go to, don't you agree!
Talking of hubby - yes he's kept me smiling this week, sometimes I get in a bit of a mental funk - nothing too serious and its always good when I drag myself back out of it, but when I'm in it I drive everyone including myself absolutely mad. Hubby has this amazing way of reminding me not to take things too seriously, so a couple of times this week when I've been in that zone, he's made me laugh and that has really helped - laughter really is a positive thing to do when times are stressful.
Talking of laughter, said 15 year old continues to amaze me, he has a great sense of humour, enjoys spending time with us, we have a good giggle. He really is turning into the most amazing young man - who I am incredibly proud of.
Talking about proud moments, we had a school meeting last night and in the reception area there is a wall showing all the names of the people who have been put forward by their class teachers for excellent work, said 15 year old's name appeared on more than one occasion on that wall - it made me smile!
Walks in a morning, even though we haven't done enough of them.
Deadpool on DVD - although I still state that I have no understanding of how that was certified a 15 in this country!
Starting some new house artwork - I will show pictures later!
A glass of red on a school night - very naughty - but it was nice!
Messages from friends on facebook!
Warm milky coffee when I arrive home and collapse in a heap!
Said 15 year old practicing on his acoustic guitar!
OK lovely people that is my list, short and no photos - sorry must try harder!
I will leave you with one scrapbook layout to make up for it, hubby and said 15 year old when we visited Harry Potter world last year (yes I am still scrapbooking the 700 photos we took on the day). Here they are in the dark arts area, the cabinet behind is the Vanishing Cabinet that Draco had to get to work in the half blood prince, the lock which runs along the front edge does actually work, the cabinet took a year to make - absolutely phenomenal!
If you fancy joining in pop a post together, pop back and link up and we shall come and visit, alternatively you can leave your rocking moments in the comments! I hope you all have a beautiful and blessed weekend and week ahead!
