WEDDING MINIBOOK

Morning lovely people, well I'm determined to make my way through the draft posts I've got lurking from last year, this one was for a wedding last April!

I used an original Voodoo Vixen (AKA Annette) design on the book, it is one of my favourite tutorials that she has done and it looks so different depending on the papers!

Hubby made the box for it to go in

I used soft pinks and ivory papers

with lots of space for words and photos

The book 'pulls' out so it looks like this

And here it is in the box

I'm hoping to crack on with more mini books this year, just need to find people to give them to, or maybe I should start trying to sell them?

I hope you are having a splendiferous Sunday

EVENING ALL - TRYING TO HAVE AN INDUSTRIOUS WEEK

Big waves to everyone, well it's been a mighty busy day at work and at home, but it's kick back time so before I attack the thing called my craft-space which is lacking seriously on the 'space' front at the moment I thought I'd put together a quick post for the beautiful book that Annette (Voodoo Vixen) created for the UK Scrappers Cyber crop recently.

I've had to wait a while to post on here as one of the two I created during the cyber crop was a gift and I wanted the recipient to actually get their paws on it before it appeared on my blog.
I created two books at the same time, the one on the left a gift for Carmen and the one on the right to be filled by yours truly with appropriate photos at some point in the future.
I loved the tissue paper design for the book as per Annette' instructions
The book unfolded
It has a mini book as part of it's main design
Which you can see a bit better here
It has lots of little pockets and spaces for tags
 And more
From the side you can see the two giant matchboxes, painted to colour co-ordinate with the rest of the book.  I thought Carmen might want to put Logan's hospital bracelet and any other small mementos in here.
Up close my book in red
I added lots of ribbons and threads
 And a giant key!
Inside the book is a mix of papers including some hand stamped and masked as the papers I used for this one were not double sided.
I made a slip when making this and attached the double sided a different way so there's no ability to add tags - so this will be a photo based mini book
Used some lovely DCWV papers I've had for a while
Again the side shot with the matchboxes

I'm so pleased with both books, I love how tactile they are and how easy they were to put together, so much so I've now bought four more matchboxes and got hubby to cut me some grey board ready so get ready to see some more of these books very soon!   Just not sure what to do with all the matches if I'm honest!

If you fancy having a go yourself!  It can be found as a PDF download on this page  here it's the third one down called it's a mystery, but all the classes were great, so feel free to explore the page!

She Likes It!!!!

It's always lovely to know that a present has been received (and Royal Mail haven't let you down), it's even nicer when the recipient likes it!  Last year an old school friend had a little girl that her and her hubby had tried for for a very long time and I made her a small gift to remember all the fantastic messages she received on facebook which she said she loved!

This year her little girl turned one and I knew she was having a bit of a family gathering so I put a little mini book together for her and sent it off recently.  Now that it's been received I'm going to pop it on here, it's based on the Voodoo Vixen book that I've made so often - honestly Annette this book is such a delight to make - simply beautiful and it can take so many pictures which is great particularly for a family gathering or a family day out!  In fact I've realised today that I've got a stack of Yorkshire Sculpture Park pictures sat on my desk and this book would be perfect - so expect another version of this very soon!

With my friend having a little girl I got to play with Pink for a change - something I rarely get round to using, I've used a new embossing folder on the front with the hearts, I think it's my favourite embossing folder (by far) and reminds me of a favourite Magenta stamp!
The inside has pockets on the right and a spiral bound book on the left!
This book is genius (again Annette - the statement "I'm not worthy" comes to mind) because of the way it pulls out to show all the pockets in a row!
In each pocket there are large pull out tags
Here they are separate I also provided some tiny journal prompts and some double sided tape for my friend Karen to use as she filled it up with pictures!
Then the book folds up to reveal more pages underneath!
I got some 'card topper' sheets in the recent bargain bag purchases which is where the pink teddies have come from, there were also a couple of decoupage sheets that I was unsure of - but I think the teddy looks quite sweet
I stamped on the words to the middle of the heart then the pocket pages look like this
this is such a fun book to make which I thoroughly enjoyed.  I hope you enjoy!

ANOTHER CHRISTMAS GIFT BUT THIS ONE'S FULL!

Well another Christmas gift completed and yet another Voodoo Vixen Organiser http://scraphappenshere.blogspot.com/2009/06/instructions-for-organiser.html to boot! I'm getting to a point where I can do these with my eyes shut LOL! They are great when you have loads and loads of photos to use up as you can keep adding tags to it! This one is designed to document a great day out visiting friends. We went to the local castle and did a little kite flying!

I chose funky colours as my little lad wouldn't be happy with glorious pink!

The mini book opened up and tags pulled out. You can use all the offcuts of the card stock to make the mini tags and all the offcuts of patterned paper to make the decoration on the tags!

My favourite bit - the bit where you pull the whole thing out and get to see this! Awesome! Hopefully it will be enjoyed and treasured for years to come!

Thanks for looking!

PINK VOODOO VIXEN CHRISTMAS GIFT

As I've had the foresight to think ahead for Christmas and start the making process I'm finding that I'm actually achieving some of the things on my list. Usually I have a grand plan of all the things I want to make and then spend too long thinking about them to actually make them. Therefore this year I've actually made a start on the list. As anyone who reads my blog knows I love this mini book design it lends itself to any papers and was designed by Annette of Voodoo Vixen fame - the instructions for the same can be found here http://scraphappenshere.blogspot.com/2009/06/instructions-for-organiser.html , it has pages, small tags, big tags and pages to put journaling and photos on - you can make it as full or as minimalist at you like!

The inside of the book has a BIA mini book on the left and pockets on the right. The pockets have big tags inside and small pockets on the front with smaller tags inside!

I was going for a sophisticated female look on this one, so pale pink papers, black cardstock and lovely Tim Holtz stamps that I bought from Dyan at AFTH
http://www.afth.co.uk/ when I saw her at the Great Northern Papercraft Show in September together with some Blonde Moments stamps that I've had for an age but work so well on everything! The best part of the book is when you fold it out and everyone goes - wow how does it do that!

Hoping the recipient will like it! I put a bit of fake stitching around the edges and it was all done - so another one ticked off the list!
Hope everyone is having a great Friday - I've got to walk round to the Doctors, take 9 year old to Works in Meadowhall to buy a music stand and then try and find my hair dressers this afternoon - I've never driven there since she moved and it's out of the way in an area I don't know so fingers crossed and make it and find my way back

A LITTLE GIFT FOR MY COUSIN

Sometimes you are given the opportunity to say a big thank you to someone who goes that extra length. During the summer holidays we went away for a couple of weeks to Menorca, during that time my Granddad passed away. The sorrow and disbelief I've felt since then have been enormous and because he passed away at the beginning of our holiday I wasn't present for the funeral. It was so hard to put it away in a box for the two weeks, but I didn't want to spoil the holiday for other half and son, so put it away I did, but now I'm finding it particularly difficult to find closure on it, to find some way of me saying good bye that feels real and tangible. My only lifeline when I was on holiday strangely enough was facebook and on the morning of the funeral when I was feeling very low and sad I managed to speak online to my cousin Gemma and I asked Gemma to give my Mum the hug that I couldn't and Gemma promised she would. True to her word she did which meant I was there in spirit with my family even if I couldn't be there physically. So when I came home I wanted to send a little gift, something that she and her partner Rachel could enjoy, so I asked for her favourite colour and put together a mini book based on the one generated by Voodoo Vixen.

I used all sorts of 'red' papers from burgundy, to reddy-orange, to pillar box red and have to say that this is one of my favourite books to put together!

With a little bit of stamping, and extra pockets

More stamping this time with a Swallow stamp which has a particular family meaning.

The book was a pleasure to do

Finished the last pocket was some new blonde moment stamps

I love the way it pulls out to show all the pockets!

And all the tags!

I was really pleased with the result

Sometimes in life it's good to just be able to say 'thank you'
