Good morning all, tis Friday time for
Well last Friday was the first Chatsworth Country Fayre for three years, the pandemic causing significant issues in the last two years.
This year it was just me, hubby and my sister as said 22 year old was working, said future daughter in law has started her teacher training, so we were a little thin on the grounds, we were up early as hubby always insists on taking sausage and bacon butties to enjoy when we get there, I warm the bread and wrap them in foil and then in tea towels inside an insulated bag to keep them warm.
I made up a fresh greek salad and we had some lovely olive bread to soak up the dressing.
Flask of coffee and some cold drinks and we were soon on our way.
We enjoyed our bacon and sausage butties on arrival which was just after nine, we were relatively close to the fayre, so no major walk for us to enjoy the same.
We wandered a few craft tents (always my favourites), before heading over to the grand stand, for our traditional watch of the mounted games.
Here is the Yorkshire team flying the flag for our county before the games begin.
The mounted games include races often of a relay type racing the ponies up and down through various courses and the riders vaulting on and off the horses without using the stirrups, it really is amazing and fun to watch and the ponies very obviously enjoy it.
Afterwards we went and found a drink and then wandered the stalls of which these were plentiful, during the afternoon there was both a parachute display and a spitfire display, I managed to catch this photo on my phone.
My sister has always loved trying on hats and this one looked amazing on her.
We headed back to the car for lunch and then back in for more wandering, we saw the birds of prey and saw the motorcycle display team
We really couldn't believe how quickly the day had gone, we soon found the crowds thinning and we started to head back towards the car.
We stopped for a cup of tea and my sister grabbed this shot of the three of us
and as we sat for the last hour enjoying some cake (we split it between three of us, so we had honey cake, tangerine cake made with almond flour and babouska cake which was a mix of autumn fruits and walnuts with a thick crust which was sweet and almost biscuit like).
We sat enjoyed watching the hot air balloon displays and were soon on our way home.
The country fayre has always signalled to us the start of autumn, the cooler mornings with a little more mist lingering, the shorter days and we noticed a few of the trees with a tinge of red, the seasons definitely changing.
After such a busy Friday (we were gone 12 hours from the house), Saturday was deemed a day of rest, I did a few wash loads to keep on top of things as usual and then spent the afternoon scrapbooking.
Said 22 year old popped over after work to see us which was nice and unexpected.
We had a simple tea of chicken sandwiches and then spent the evening chatting, which was lovely.
Unfortunately sleep seem to escape me on Saturday night, it was 2am before my brain started to wind down, I've had a hard week at work and things were playing on my mind and then I seemed to wake on the hour every hour. thankfully I slept in until gone 9am, so hopefully won't be hitting the deck too early.
Sunday proved a quiet day, we had pancakes for breakfast which were lovely and then hubby helped me with a hair dye as my hair was definitely in need of a little less grey.
The rest of the day was quiet waiting on the working week and before I knew it we were at Monday.
The week has tripped along as normal at a merry old pace and I find myself at thursday already.
I hope you've had a good week.
Hugs
