Rocking Your World Friday - 44th of 2019

Good Afternoon lovely people tis Friday which means it is time for

So first up was last weekend, Saturday was a day of happy rugby (hubby most happy) and tootling about the house, Sunday we decided given the blue skies that we'd head to Chatsworth and put our membership through its paces

As it was half term week and heading up to Halloween there was a pumpkin trail to follow, I loved this display

We also spotted a pear sculpture

The house looked particularly pretty

And the quantity of rain we had meant that all the water features were on full flow

I don't think I've ever seen the trough waterfall so full

The colours by the grotto were stunning

And really made the Hare pop

Hubby grabbed this photo of me

Nature's colours really are stunning

Britannia still looking mighty fine inside the grotto

The view of the maze was fab

There were lots of people enjoying it

We also loved the cascade pumpkins, I've never thought of turning the pumpkin this way

This one looked really grumpy

I managed to grab an autumn selfie of the two of us (said 19 year old was working).

On Wednesday I took a day off that I was owed to go to an alternative wreath class.

This was our classroom

It was an absolutely fantastic day at Wentworth Woodhouse, spent making an alternative wreath with Gemma from the Button Tin.

We spent all day, cutting and hand stitching and chatting, with lots of ladies I'd never met before

And this is what I created

It was such a lovely laid back and relaxing day that I really enjoyed and it was so lovely to learn something new.

Unfortunately, our house has succumbed to the dreaded lurgy courtesy of our lovely uni student, he came home the other day complaining everyone was coughing and sneezing, by Wednesday he was sleeping through the day and night, by Thursday he was no better and had to take the day off.  This has resulted in hubby coming down with the same lurgy, so fingers crossed I don't get it because I'm really not in the mood for being poorly.

Fingers crossed they feel better very very soon.

I hope you've had a great week, if you are about and fancy joining in pop a post together come back and link up and we can come and visit.  I'm sure Lisca will have done hers already hours and hours ago and Kate is probably still away.

Rocking Your World Friday - 11th of 2019

Good morning lovely people, I hope I find you well and that you've had a splendid week, tis Friday which means time for

So first up was last Saturday when I went with my Mum and sister to join Gemma at the Button Tin in a heritage craft day.

Gemma has recently become artist in residence at Elsecar and wants to get lots of females involved from the locality and surrounding areas to celebrate the women of Elsecar and Wentworth.

What this meant in real terms was a fabulous day with lots of women, talking about the locality and hand stitching and we had a fabulous day.

It was made all the more fabulous by the fact that Gemma took us over to her new studio to have a look and as always it is always a delight.

She still has all the banners done for the Tour De Yorkshire that went through Elsecar last year, in her space with Yorkshire phrases on them.

As a textile artist, Gemma always has some hidden treasures to enjoy, this paper mache boat with hand embroidered sails was a particular favourite of mine

The day was actually spent in the upstairs rooms in the visitors centre, which meant walking past some eclectic art that I really liked

The boys in the meantime had a class up in Sheffield that involved some computer software that said 18 year old uses, he said it was really helpful, so Saturday was definitely a win win.

Sunday and the weather was pretty atrocious again, so it was catching up on six nations rugby and making a simple tea.

Monday morning we were all awake at 3am as said 18 year old had to be dropped off at college for 4.15pm as he was off to Barceleno

Me and hubby managed some more sleep when he returned.

And said 18 year old sent us some pictures at the end of his first day.

and somewhere me and hubby have always wanted to go

He had a fabulous time

Tuesday me and hubby went out for a date night tapas and Spanish gin for hubby (homemade lemonade for me)

We had a lovely evening sat chatting and putting the world to rights.

I had a full days training on digital marketing strategy on Wednesday which was interesting but quite mentally stretching if you know what I mean!

Hubby went silversmithing on Wednesday night and I managed a tiny amount of scrapbooking (still on with 2017 and said 18 year old's NCS summer)

Thursday night we were awaiting return of said 18 year old, whose flight had been delayed, so we went for an evening walk for the first time in a while.  It was lovely as not only did we enjoy the walk but we had a good old natter at the same time, which is definitely good for the soul.

We collected said 18 year old about half six, picked up a simple tea and then headed home to catch up on all his stories of being away.

Now all I have to do is deal with the washing from his adventures!

and that my lovely people is that

If you fancy joining in pop a post together, pop back, link up and we can come and visit.

FLY FREE AND BEST OF FRIENDS

Morning lovely people, another couple of layouts from me this morning, this one taken at the Button Tin in my home town, this is based in the original indoor market that has been converted into retail shops, unfortunately it doesn't get the footfall it truly deserves given how beautiful it is!

I had the chance to spend part of a day there with said 15 year old in the summer, learning how to make vintage flower brooches, we had a fabulous time there, it was like being in a time warp with the vintage music playing, hand sewing and surrounded by the most gorgeous items, Gemma who runs and owns the Button Tin was brilliant, giving us lots of help along the way and helping said 15 year old with his Art Textiles Work!

Next up those two on a walk recently, I think the title sums it up!  I really 'fought' with this layout, it really wasn't doing it for me, not sure why - perhaps the lack of a dark colour was frustrating me, I'm not sure, but I added the hearts and considered this one done, sometimes you just have to walk away from a layout!

Hope the week is treating you well!

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 35TH OF 2015

Hello lovely people we are at Friday again and it's the last Friday of August - how did that happen, this time next week the schools will be back, time really is flying by.  Time to take stock and look back over the last 7 days to find the silver linings and positives

Friday saw an impromptu meeting with my brother, sister, brother's girlfriend, niece and my Mum and to really make it absolutely perfect hubby managed to join us for the meal out, a few hours of pretty awesome company - nothing finer!

Sunday saw a trip out to Yorkshire Sculpture Park for a family gathering of a different kind, it was acknowledged recently that it's often the sad occasions that people get chance to get together and see one another, so finally someone took the initiative to plan a happy occasion to meet up.  So quite a few of us met up for a picnic and a wander, unfortunately the wasps were in their prime so picnics were hindered somewhat, but great company meeting extended family and a wander around some of the sculptures was all good!

Here are some of the gang that met up!

And this is said 14 year old on one of the huge sculptures.

A trip to the hairdressers on Tuesday was also much needed and before we knew it Thursday arrived, I'd booked the day off from work so me and said 14 year old could head into town to a class at the Button Tin.  As said 14 year old is doing textile art, part of the criteria is meeting artists, what finer way than taking a class with a well known textile artist in the town centre!

We arrived at 11am had three options of what we could make, gathered fabric, were provided with a cup of tea and set too.

Here is said 14 year old in the midst of our creativity

And these are our finished items, we learnt how to make a vintage fabric flower brooch, mine is on the left and said 14 year old's is on the right.

The Button Tin really is an amazing place to be, stepping into it you step literally into a fabric art installations created by Gemma herself.

There is so much to see inside and it is such a positive and happy space!

And here is said 14 year old with the very lovely Gemma at the Button Tin

Around the other side is the fabric covered piano which was played by a very talented pianist as we created.

I love this statement on the side

This is the beautiful Button Tin, it is inside the old imperial market in town and is surrounded by lots of little shop units, unfortunately most of these are currently empty which is a crying shame, it really should be filled with all things vintage perhaps even a little vintage tea shop to make it perfect and to keep Gemma's beautiful Button Tin a thriving hub of creativity for everyone to enjoy!

Spending time with my 14 year old really is pretty awesome, we had a lovely couple of hours together and then have come home and promptly continued creating more of what we've been taught today.

If you want to know more about the Button Tin, there is a facebook page here I believe it's also on Twitter, Instagram and pinterest as well if you fancy searching it out.

If you fancy joining in, pop a post together, pop back and link up and I can come and visit and see your positives for the week.
