ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 48TH OF 2020

Good morning lovely people tis Friday time for

well it has been a mighty strange week if I'm honest, we are still in the main UK lockdown which means there really isn't anywhere to go currently other than food shopping.  So we've hunkered down and just got on with life the universe and everything in the meantime, apart from anything we aren't actually allowed out at the moment, but more of that shortly

Given that it has been a pretty awful year for everyone this year, we weren't a little bit bothered when said 20 year old decided that we might as well start putting the trees up, so here are the dining room trees all up, we've gone with the triple white tree, Alice themed again

Sunday saw 'stir it up Sunday' literally creep up on me, I honestly thought it was next Sunday, but the National Trust put me right.  Thankfully I had all the necessary ingredients to be able to throw one together so here are the obligatory stirring photos.

And then these also raised a smile this week, said 20 year old girlfriend did a doorstep drop off for us of these lovely goodies.  I tested positive for Covid last week and believe that both hubby and said 20 year old have also had it.  We've had a pretty miserable week of it, but there are the odd silver linings to enjoy in amongst the detritus these being such things.

So I know it is a crazy thing to put on my positive post because I really shouldn't feel positive about it, but it is so lovely to know that people care.

I hope you've all managed to remain safe and secure and virus free, if you fancy joining in pop a post together, come back and link up and we can come and visit.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 47TH OF 2020

Good morning lovely people tis Friday time for

So it has been one of those quiet slow weeks we decided albeit that the weather looked truly awful for the day to book to go to Yorkshire Sculpture Park, but weirdly on Saturday we seemed to slow time it out of the house, in hindsight I must have known as we'd only been out a few minutes when said 20 year old requested we return home due to some bad news and you know when you know it is that kind of bad news, so we came back to find that one of my Uncles (one of my Mum's brothers) had passed away, very unexpectedly.  We decided after sharing a fair few tears, that a trip out to take in the beautiful blue skies and the fresh air and see the sun shining on the water would be one of those ways to remember him by, he was a very gentle soul and so it is sad to know he is no longer here.

As you can see YSP provided the solace I needed, so I'm grateful for our membership and our ability to go out and embrace those blue skies.

We walked down the hillside

And stopped off at the lake, enjoying the wintry sun

The globe seemed ever more blue than normal

Up past the Buddha on the hillside

Finding Vulcan near the autumnal trees

With the sun dipping low

And finally sitting to take in the landscape

It was a much needed trip out on a particularly tough day.

So as you can see it has been a bit of tough one this week

As a positive on Monday my annual newsletter that I'd sent to the printers returned, which always raises a smile, so I spent some time folding it and popping in the mountain of Christmas cards that I'm sending.

The rest of the week has been lots of work, chilling in front of the TV.

I managed to clear my craft table, so now I've no idea what to make (which I know fellow crafters will absolutely get).

I hope you've had a good week, if you fancy joining in pop back link up and we can come and visit.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 46TH OF 2020

Good morning lovely people tis Friday time for

So we are at the end of our first week of the second lockdown and so lots of time at work and at home.  Mental health wise it has been a bit of a challenging time for hubby in particular as he is struggling a bit at the moment.  I'm hoping that over time being very gentle on himself he can start to make some way through, but as I always say this isn't a button that you can switch on or off and things take time to repair and mend, some times a short amount of time sometimes a long amount of time.  So that doesn't really seem something to be cheerful about on a Rocking post I hear you say, well it isn't but I am grateful that he acknowledged that things weren't right and sought some help and has agreed to take it slowly on the repair front.  I'm also immensely grateful for a Doctor who actually listened and took stock and agreed that time is going to be key at the moment.  So a happy grateful for an understanding Doctor.

So in the hope of trying to get him to more like his old self which meant only one thing, baking, here he is enjoying making a cinnamon swirl cake, he ended up making two because he omitted a key ingredient in the first one; like I said stressed (don't ask it was sugar and proved an entertaining joke for the weekend).  Not that him baking helps my waistline any but if it allows him to do something he loves I'm definitely not one to stop him.

Next up we toyed with going to Yorkshire Sculpture Park, we also toyed with Worsbrough Mill, but actually decided on our local garden centre, it sits within the historic walls of the walled garden of Wentworth Woodhouse and a large amount of the land has been restored to its original use as an ornamental garden and at this time of the year is really rather beautiful as I'm sure you will agree.

I loved the yellow tones of this huge tree

We grabbed a selfie to mark the occasion

The red of the acer was stunning

It had filled the waterfall

Beautiful colours

I loved the pooling water and the leaves

And hubby picked up this stunning leaf

The topiaries always look fabulous

The leaf fall was extreme, I'm not sure I'd fancy picking it all up if I'm honest, although they have netted the ponds

So that was definitely a positive to celebrate.

Other positives were sorting my Mum's laminate in her front room, her and her hubby kept out of the way which meant we could get on and lay it.  She called at the end of the day to say that it looked amazing and she was a little teary, we also managed to get her TV on a wall bracket and a curtain pole put up as well as the edging strip.  We did this between me, hubby and said 20 year old as we are one bubble and like I said Mum and her hubby stayed in a different part of the house so we had access through the front door, it was the only way we could do it in the current circumstances, but it really did need doing.  She was over the moon and whilst it was a hard and very tiring day for us, was well worth it.

Work is busy as always at the moment, but grateful for having Monday off last week to be with hubby, it was nice to have a longer weekend if that makes sense, even though we can't really go anywhere.  I did lots of online ordering for Christmas because I think that is going to be the only way that I can manage to make headway if I'm honest and am almost sorted.  I have a few handmade things to make which I'm hoping to sort in the next few weeks, plus I love making homemade so all is good on that front.

I hope you've had a splendiferous week and if you fancy joining in pop a post together come back and link up and we can come and visit.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 45TH OF 2020

Good Afternoon lovely people time to look back on the last 7 days for it is time for

Well I managed to assist my sister last week by going and painting her hall stairs and landing, she's always had an issue with the stairs as the paint often cracks, but with the use of anti-crack paint, I think we may have sorted that issue out.  It was just a lick of white paint and some glossing but the difference is amazing.

We had spent some time last week making some Halloween silhouettes for the windows as we knew the trick or treaters weren't allowed to knock this year, so we thought this might prove fun.  We were really pleased with the overall effect and it raised a smile with the local kids.

I was aware that my sister's guest bed had an issue, so whilst she was out at the gym the other day me and hubby popped over wearing our lovely masks and hubby mended it which meant the roll out piece which makes it into a double could finally be put back away.  She was over the moon when she got home and realised what we had managed to do.

So I'm grateful that despite social distancing there are still ways of helping people that really need the support and we managed all that before heading into the new national lockdown.

I've been making progress on my Christmas list this week and preparing and sorting a few things that definitely needed to go in the post sooner rather than later as I'm aware there are some backlogs of post in the system currently.

I had a busy work week and when there was an issue at home on Thursday my boss was brilliant and just told me to take the rest of the day off and suggested I took a day's TOIL on Monday so I could relax and have a nice weekend, which is what I've done.

Then finally on Thursday night we had a little fireworks and bonfire party in the back garden, just the three of us.  Hubby lit the outdoor fire and we had jacket potatoes with cheese and hotdogs with onions, before having a small assortment of what I call 'plant pot' fireworks.  It was really lovely to sit outside chatting and putting the world to rights and reminded me that sometimes it is the little things!

I loved this photo of said 20 year old with the sparklers

I hope you've had an awesome week and that the world has been kind to you, if you fancy joining in pop a post together come back and link up so we can come and visit.
