ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 35TH OF 2022

Good morning lovely people it is Friday time for

Well I've had another very busy week, last weekend we headed to the cinema, we saw initially the Minions film - Rise of Gru, which was pretty amazing (it has to be said) and then went for lunch and then headed back to the cinema and watched Top Gun Maverick (again for the third time, it definitely gets better the more I see it).

Saturday we had tickets to go to Wentworth Woodhouse they had a family Alice in Wonderland themed day on, but anyone that follows my blog knows that I do love Alice, so we headed out around lunchtime and had a fun time wandering around enjoying the activities

They had some great props

Hubby started singing Motorhead!

There was some actors as well and families and children in particular were having fun.

Saturday evening we went to a neighbours 50th birthday party which was lovely, catching up with others in the close and then chilled for the rest of the evening.

Sunday we headed out to YSP as I really needed a decent walk, we had a lovely wander and a natter

and definitely saw the first signs of autumn in the form of fungi at the roots of the trees.

I spent the rest of Sunday scrapbooking and making a few cards and before we knew it we were back at Monday again.

The week has tripped along at a pace and I find myself at thursday evening already, I hope you've had a lovely week.

Hugs

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 16TH OF 2022

Morning time to clock the positives from the last seven days

First up my lovely desk from my childhood, which is looking particularly spring like at the moment

How happy are these violas

Next up a trip to Cannon Hall, it is many many years since we last went (said 21 year old eventually grew out of it if that makes sense).  But I spotted that they were doing a Wonderland trail for Easter and well anyone that knows me knows how much I love Alice so off we went.  The trail wasn't big and seemed to incorporate monsters as well, which initially didn't make sense, but it was great fun

Hubby sat having a story read to him by yours truly lol

The signage was fab

And the drink me bottles in the trees

The croquet 'lawn' not quite the same

But I loved the hedgehog sat in top

and the mallets

The chessboard was large rather than giant

The Cheshire cat was definitely my favourite

Look at that smile

and the fantastic handbag it was made from -simply genius upcycling

I also loved the giant flowers, reusing old lamp shades

We also enjoyed a wander around the hall and came across this 'scrapbook' for the late 1800s with hand painted 'monsters' on it  - hence the original trail

They'd recently re-interpreted the monsters with some new 3d printed ones

The rooms were very pretty

Upstairs there were some interesting art pieces - I spy me

Outside we came across some sculptures that we'd seen recently in Barnsley

I loved this wire sculpture in the walled garden

Then back to the Alice trail for a selfie with the flowers

The rest of the weekend was lovely, we did YSP on Sunday taking said future daughter-in-law as she is finishing her art degree and it is nice for her to see some new artwork in person if that makes sense.  It was a decent walk, afterwards we popped to see my Mum and caught up with my sister which was lovely.

Monday and the sun shone again, so we headed to Wentworth Woodhouse for a wander around the garden which was fantastic as always, lots of new things flowering since the last time we visited.

And that was what turned out to be quite a busy Easter weekend, we went back to work on Tuesday a little on the tired side.

Tuesday night we went to the City Hall in Sheffield to see Ed Gamble, he was really funny

and last night we went to Cineworld to see NT Live Henry V with my Mum

It was a really good adaptation, but with far too many subtitles, I had no idea that Shakespeare had written half a play in French - but there you go.

If anyone happens by, hope you've had a grand week.

DRINK ME

Christmas layout from Christmas 2016, when we moved the Alice items onto the stairs garland (due to the Harry Potter tree - but you know all about that).

I took a couple of instagram shots to document it, it is seriously weird looking back years later as the changes we make even to Christmas decorations.

Hope you are having a great day!

THE CAT, THE CROW AND ART INSPIRATION

Morning all, well another mix of layouts this morning,  this layout documents the inspiration behind the art.  In the left hand picture you can see hubby stood next to a giant piece of smoky quartz at Chatsworth in the right hand picture you can see said 15 year old next to a resin seat made using the quartz as inspiration.  Both pieces are beautiful!

Then the Alice trail in Llandudno - yes another layout - I told you I've got almost a full album on that one trail alone.  Here is me and said 15 year old stood next to the Cheshire Cat sculpture in the park (there are two in this trail, the second appearing in the second part of the trail which covers 'Through the Looking Glass').

And finally a layout documenting Colin the crow at Harewood, he is really cheeky and quite tame and very very inquisitive and he likes it when visitors pass him sticks through the bars apparently, a couple of up close photos and a family 'selfie' with Colin in the background!

Hope you are having a fabulous day

GIGGLE, TODAY IS A GIFT AND MOSAIC

So three more layouts, I enjoy making layouts out of components blocks like this one, I think if I recall correctly I was 'using up' a kit and had lots of little bits left over.  I had also just purchased the rather cute owl punch.

Photo of hubby having a pint when we had a weekend away earlier in the summer, the sequence of photos was quite funny but I chose to document this one!

Alice trail layout again - I've almost a full album with just that one day!

And another Alice layout, this one documenting the mosaic which we found in a car park attached to the outside of the Public Toilets - I'm sure they could have found a better place to situate it but hey ho!

1st December lovely people have an awesome day!

MONDAY ARRIVES

Good morning, well it's been a strange weekend overall, the sad news that we've all had to deal with, the massive outpourings of emotions on social media, it really is a very difficult time.

Thankfully my scrapbooking allowed me some time to reflect and take stock a little bit, so thought I'd share a few more layouts.  Thankfully the scrapbooking is becoming prolific again!  I blame finding some decent colour challenges recently to get me off the starting blocks!

first up a double page spread that I did as part of the Alice trail around Llandudno (I can't believe how many layouts that one day has created!).

These photos were taken in the park

Next up a rather cold day up at Nostell Priory, our first every visit, we had a great day out and can highly recommend!

I hope your Monday greets you kindly!

ALICE IN WONDERLAND TRAIL

Good morning all - Monday morning arrives all too quickly these days but I've had a positive weekend so shouldn't grumble as it were.

Here are three layouts created as part of the Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass Trail around Llandudno.

First up a photo at the start, there is an app you can download for free when doing the trail, unfortunately with the ancient brick like phones we had at the time this wasn't to be but we enjoyed standing next to the white rabbit sign when we picked up the paper map.

This is one of the prettier statues on the trail, which took hours to complete

These are on the band stand in the main park in Llandudno, gorgeous attention to detail.

We had a fabulous day, so if you are ever in Llandudno and fancy a good walk with some fabulous sculptures to see on your travels why not take part in the Alice trail.
