ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 22ND OF 2026

Morning all we are on Friday once again time to take stock and look back at the positive moments and silver linings from the last 7 days as it is time for

Well last Friday I had a busy day getting ready for my niece's hen weekend.  We had hired a holiday let for the bank holiday weekend.  There was a total of 9 of us going friends and family and a mix of ages (although if truth be known I was definitely the oldest).

I had a lovely weekend spending time with some fabulous people and although there were a number of activities that I couldn't join in with due to my current Achilles tendon problem I still had a lovely time.

We met up at my niece's home at 6pm with us all wearing our hen party t-shirts and then set off and within an hour we were there.  Some of the girls had already been up and decorated the place.

My daughter-in-law had made my niece a cake for her 'last rodeo' which was beautiful, would you believe this is only the 4th cake she has ever made!

We had pizza and nibbles for tea before a 'Mr and Mrs' quiz which proved fun, it was a late night with lots of laughter and fun.

Saturday morning we were up early, the girls did a yoga session, I did not instead I enjoyed the view and crocheted

We had a lovely breakfast and then headed out for a walk, which took in some of the local area.  We stopped off for a drink before venturing back.  Some of them went for a nap but I sat nattering with my daughter in law and then set up for the paint and sip session

We'd created some outline pictures that everyone traced and then people painted them in.  We were all dressed for the cowboy themed evening as you can see.  I wasn't sure if everyone would enjoy this activity, but everyone embraced it and everyone enjoyed what they created which was definitely a win

and here are the finished paintings, which my niece loved.

Then an evening of more games, relay races and pole dancing (one of the girls goes to classes and brought the portable one she has for home) it was the focus of much hilarity during the evening.

Sunday morning and I was awake at 6am listening to the wildlife, enjoying the view and just soaking up a little nature (whilst crocheting).

Once everyone was up there was a circuit session with my sister first thing (another one I bowed out of) and then breakfast before we did a charm and hairclip creative session organised by my daughter in law which everyone enjoyed.

And then it was time to get ready for a bank holiday Sunday in Leeds city centre for a drinking session and as you can imagine this is when I bowed out.  Not my scene and not a drinker these days, so hubby picked me up and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon and evening with him and bank holiday Monday.

Our son popped over with our grandson which was wonderful, he is getting really animated now which is great to see.

I was working on Tuesday but from home, it was far too warm but I managed.  I ended up with an emergency dentist appointment due to a cracked tooth (which he sorted without an issue) and a Doctor's appointment as I think I'm anaemic again.  Thank goodness for our NHS is all I can say.  In the evening our son, daughter-in-law and grandson came for tea which was great and we had a catch up on the rest of the hen weekend.

Wednesday I went into work for a few hours, sorted paperwork and then headed home to finish things off and worked until late but got a fair amount done.

Thursday and I did a couple of hours work and then had physio for my Achilles problem and then we came home and deep cleaned several rooms upstairs before it got way to warm and we headed outside onto the deck for the rest of the day.

As you can tell I have plenty of things to be very grateful for over the last 7 days, I hope you do too.

Hugs

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 21ST OF 2026

Good morning lovely people tis Friday time for

Well you may have considered last week's post somewhat vague, but there was a reason for that because we were actually away.

We had taken a 9 day holiday to Rhodes for some proper time of rest and relaxation and that is exactly what we got.

We stayed at the same hotel we've been to previously in Ixia.

We enjoyed a drink in the evening before we headed in for food.

We had some beautiful days and the clouds on a couple of the days were stunning.

These two driftwood pieces were in the reception area of the hotel and are new.

We went into Rhodes Old Town twice during our stay and had a look around one of the Museums.

We saw some mosaics

and enjoyed the cool interior as it was mighty hot outside.

I loved the quirky Greek backstreets

and we enjoyed the harbour and looking at the stunning boats.

We also spotted the Rhodian crows, someone had unfortunately left food and they were helping themselves, I'm unsure that a chocolate spread covered waffle is a great diet for them.

Another beautiful sky

We got this photo on the beach

and the sky just got better and better

We giggled at the Greek Loch Ness Monster

Stunning sunset and caught the plane in the shot as well

Our second trip into Rhodes Old Town and we went to the harbour to begin with.

and had a wander inside the church

then a walk around the Medieval Old Town

I love the hibiscus flowers.

We stopped for a drink and snack in the back streets.  I had peach tea and went large and it came in a pint pot.  We ordered breads and dips which were delicious.  The dips were houmous, tzatziki and whipped feta and chillis.

I love this building.

The hotel we were staying had introduced a special Greek meal night that you could enjoy.  This was the menu which we assumed we would choose from, but believe it or not we were served with everything.

These were the breads

and the Greek village salad

Spinach pie

Fava beans and mushrooms, I wasn't keen on the beans (it was the texture that I had issues with), but I loved the  mushrooms.

These were lamb and were similarly delicious

Then the main course (we were starting to struggle if truth be known)

and dessert which was incredibly unusual.

and a photo of yours truly looking a little on the red side if I'm absolutely honest.

This was our last night and we flew back on Sunday evening and Monday morning I was back in work, to say it was something of a culture shock is an understatement, but I managed to get through my meetings and the work I needed to sort so all was good.

Our son, daughter-in-law and grandson came for tea on Tuesday night which was lovely as we had a post holiday catch up which was much needed.

I hope you've had a fabulous week.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 20TH OF 2026

Morning lovely people tis Friday time to clock the silver linings and positive moments from the last 7 days

So last Friday was a little stressful, we got a call from my son to say our Grandson had ended up in the hospital the day before, my son was concerned and had called 111 and they'd sent an ambulance.  They kept him in for 24 hours, checked him over for lots of potential issues but ruled it out as just one of those things.  So why does it make my grateful post, well first up I'm grateful that the NHS didn't mess about and got him straight in there.  I'm also grateful that everything panned out OK and that he was let home on the Friday.  Apparently all the nurses thought he was lovely, although it was something of a sleepless night for my daughter in law.

I'm also grateful (in hindsight) that we didn't get a late night call to say that he'd ended up in the hospital, by that point that Doctors felt everything was OK and my son didn't want me up stressing all night - he knows me so well.

I'm also grateful for hubby helping give the house a good clean with me, you know when things need a proper fettle so I enjoyed seeing a clean house at the end of it.

I've also enjoyed crocheting, I've picked up some more wool and made a start on a second cardigan, this one stripe free, I'm not sure how easy it will be to count up the rows without the stripes but we will see.

I'm also loving my kindle at the moment, I've found that I can crochet and read at the same time which is good.

Overall a quiet week, I hope yours has been grand too.

Hugs

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 19TH OF 2026

Good morning tis Friday time to clock the silver linings and positive moments from the last 7 days for it is time for

So last Thursday we went to the local college in the evening for a tasting menu called 'A Taste of France' we are served each course but thankfully the portions are small

First up with the canapes, I giggled at the tiny Croque Monsieur nearest to us on the photo, behind that was pate, a tiny gougere and a smoke salmon roll

Then we had soup served in a teacup

Then fish with a mousse centre and a bisque

Main was lamb which was beautiful, I even managed the carrot puree (never a fan of the root vegetables but I got away with this).

Dessert was a mille feuille I giggled at hubby's from my view point

but turned around the both looked great (and tasted even better)

Then tiny petits fours to complete the meal, my favourite was the rum truffle

It was a lovely relaxed evening where we could chat, catch up and enjoy some great food cooked by the students.

On Saturday hubby helped me sort the front door wreath, off with the spring colours

and on with more summery ones, I was really pleased with the finished item, I got the flowers from Ikea and added ribbons that I already owned, this will hopefully stay put until the autumn now.

We had a quiet weekend overall, caught up with our son, daughter-in-law and Grandson and also with my sister which was lovely.

During the week I managed to complete my first ever proper clothing item in the form of a cardigan for my daughter-in-law, she chose the colours and I put the cardigan together

I took better photos the following day

and I'm really pleased with it, it definitely isn't perfect but it is a garment and it is wearable so I think that's a win.  She has promised to get a photo in it this weekend so hopefully I'll be able to share a photo of it being modelled in future weeks.

I also completed the ball of wool for my granny squares, I doubt very much that anyone else is mad enough to do it my way but there was a therapy in the duplication it has to be said, the downside (including the completed square I shared last week) I've got 53 centres which is rather irritating for a blanket, mind you I've got to finish it yet.

Kate thank you for the hints and tips on the crochet keep them coming I need all the help I can get.  I think I did more stitches on the outside of the granny square but I was so overjoyed to create something that looked like a granny square I was past caring at that point I'm mindful that this attitude won't be something to continue with.

I hope you've all had a grand week as well.

Hugs
