MIXED POST FOR A MONDAY!

Good morning, well Monday upon us so quickly - blink and I think I missed the weekend, however, it is so lovely to be having drier days and some blue skies, just waiting for the porridge to be cooked for breakfast, then I'm getting changed and hitting the garden for a spring clean up and sort out, really looking forward to it if I'm honest.

So first up is my take on the Simple Recipes on UK Scrappers from February, I adored this class and found the way of using up scraps quite simply genius, I have subsequent to this, recreated the same layout in various different colour ways!

Then a couple of recent entries to the Stay at Home Circle Journal over on Collaborart!  This is my take on Titania under the recent Shakespeare themed page (my choice).

And next up an art journal page with the theme Innocence and Experience

I've really enjoyed this CJ up to now, great fun and challenging themes!  Hope you are having a fab Monday!

COLLABORART, CIRCLE JOURNAL RETURNED

This one has been fun and sad at the same time (we lost one in the post - not fun, sob), fun in the fact that it was with a 'Desert Island Discs' theme, the soundtrack of your life.  There were some very different journals doing the rounds, including two fabric ones which were fun to work on, as well as Donna's masterpiece, if you want to see more of the collaborations, head over here however this post is about the return of mine.

Collaborart, is about working collaboratively and therefore when you receive a circle journal, not only do you work on your entry but have 'permission' to work on those that have gone before, this in turn means the journal returned is a really rich piece of art work, which I love.  I'll let the photos do the talking, but a mahoosive thank you to all those that took part and added to the pieces as they travelled around!  I don't have a favourite piece, I love each and every one of them and their additions!

The final piece was my originally entry into the journal, this is how it started out
And how it looked when it returned
And the other side as it left
 And how it returned
Next time we're doing a Royal Mail proof one!

REMEMBERING TO POST ON HERE TOO

Recently I took part in an Exquisite Corpse project on the Collaborart blog, the idea is similar to those games you used to play at school, the one where you draw a 'monster' one person does the feet and folds over the page leaving little marks for the legs, then the next person does the legs and leaves little marks for the beginning of the body, so on and so forth.  Well think of that idea but doing trips around several people via the post.  That was the premise behind the Exquisite Corpse, we were in groups of 4, we completed the first piece, marked the second piece ready and sent it on it's way and the group continue that until all four pieces were completed and returned.  After each piece was completed, it was sealed in an envelope so that no one saw the items as they travelled around, much fun was had by all.  To make things interesting we could 'choose' what the item was and I went for a building (yes a building).  Here is the item returned and finally (it's taken a while) framed.  I will let the photos do the talking
The reason for the delay in blogging is that it's taken a while to fathom out how to backlight it!
And this is how we did it
 Up close, my ground floor.
 Rebecca's first floor

 Katie's third floor

 And Pam's roof

Doesn't it look fabulous, I'm so pleased with it and all the work that went into it - thank girls, if you fancy finding out more about Collaborart, click here to see the blog and see the fab art that's on there, as well as details of how to join if you fancy, I think we are currently Europe wide on collaborations.

WEDNESDAY POST

Good morning, well I'm searching through my blog folder and realised that I'd shared my entry into the Desert Island Discs circle journal on Collaborart (where the journal originates click here to find out more) but not on my blog, so I thought I'd share it here before it gets archived.

This journal was the second fabric journal that had crossed my path and I chose the track We Are Young and created an Empire State building in the clouds (as per the lyrics), I used fabric pens and fabric spray paint to create the background and then had fun with my sewing machine for the afternoon

I then added to other entries in the journal, a little bit of white machine stitching on this one.
A quilting stitch on this one
The gold 'tie back' and edged checked board on this one

Going over the title on this one
and some more decorative stitches on this one
finally a bit more coloured machine stitching on this one.

And a wavy line on this one.
This CJ is now drawing to a close with one final entry into Donna's journal which I'll share with you in the future, hope you're all having a great Wednesday!

OH A SATURDAY MORNING POST

Morning all - hope the weather is fine and bright and sunny where you are, it's a blue skies day in Yorkshire this morning - bliss.  Hubby cooking pancakes at the moment and we are sat chatting, had a lovely morning up to now, just chatting and giggling it's good for the soul!

I keep forgetting to share what I've put on the Collaborart blog - so having a sort thought my blog folder I thought I'd show a circle journal I've been working on recently that is a fabric journal.  I was somewhat concerned about working on it initially but once the sewing machine was dusted off and I had a look through I managed to produce this. The inspiration came from the lyrics of the track in which the words were 'holy cow I love your eyes' - I couldn't help myself!
Up close you can see the angel 'wings' and the halo.  The background was gelli print fabric, the rest was predominantly felt with hessian and a bit of fabric (the eyes) added in for good measure.
Oh and leather for the patches
Part of the collaborative side of the blog is to add to previous pieces, so on this one I added the bars.
Little 'ghost' fishes on this one
The 'frame' either side of the left top piccie.
which you can see better here
A little bit of a quilting stitch on this one
which again you can see better here.
Another quilting stitch around the title on this one
Which you can see here slightly better (although the photo is slightly blurry)
And finally I added the ribbon circle around the edge and the applique on the bodice.
Slightly better view of it here.
The worry of adding to someone's artwork is getting easier as we do more collaborations, if you fancy seeing other work then check out the Collabor-art blog!
