RIP CJ RESURRECTED THE FINALE

So it's finally here, the final CJ that has passed through my hands after many many months.  This whole CJ has yet again been an emotional roller coaster with CJ's going AWOL, or rather people going AWOL and the CJ never reappearing,  but we've rallied around and tried to make good so hopefully by the time we're done we should all have received what we deserve - a completed CJ is leaving my hands today.  I love the finished ones, there is something deeply satisfying about letting a book go - when it's actually full.  Now similarly to the original RIP CJ when this CJ arrived it had several blank pages in the back, most of which (or probably all) were due to missing people in the journal or drop outs or people going AWOL and similarly to Marie's when I had it, I couldn't pass it on without completing it.  Something in me won't allow that to happen.  So what was I faced with not one blank, nope, not two blanks, nope, not three blanks, nope but four blanks.  Four I tell you and the theme - well this one was the Rock Disney CJ and the one I'd been the most apprehensive about.  Along it's journey I'd had glimpses of others takes on it and was very much in awe of the book before it landed here.  Each of the entries was awesome and the last entry which was the one Sian had done was fabulously chunky - so that was my excuse.  I had to complete this journal before I could send it on its way.

Now I have a secret to tell you, I'm not a Disney fan, I can't help it - far too much singing for my liking so this was going to be difficult.  However Jasmine had given us an open idea depending on which way we wanted to jump - either a Rock Disney themed page, or music from a film.  The music from a film was definitely my initial preference, but in the end it was the Disney themed pages that really worked for me.

Now my favourite of favourite Disney films is 101 Dalmatians (because there's hardly any singing) but I couldn't subject my favourite Rock star to a life dressed as a dalmatian (I just couldn't do it), so then I thought about it the only other Disney animated film I own is Alice in Wonderland and yes I know it's been done recently but I thought what the hell.

So here's Alice and her new star
The other side Mr Oz as the Blue Caterpillar
The Toxic Twins as Tweedledum and Tweedledee, Pink as the Queen of Hearts, the Chadshire Cat and Slash as the Madhatter
 The pull out piece
And the other side explaining whose who.
So then I was on a roll, my sister's favourite Disney film was the Little Mermaid

And then my films one was fun, it had me scrambling through old DVD's and soundtracks that we had

but my favourite one that I did was inspired by my brother, who when I mentioned the theme got mighty giddy and told me I 'had' to do this film, his favourite all time film - painted by my own fair hand I might add and I can't paint.  Now I know some of you might be doing the 'disney?' bit at the moment but they have always claimed it as their own as the characters were drawn when Mr Burton was employed by Disney.
I created a pocket on the inside with film strip type cards with the characters on one side and the Rock Star on the other

Such good fun, so a massive thank you to all the girls who've contributed to make this a great CJ and a massive thank you to Sarah for keeping us as organised as possible!

RIP RESURRECTED CJ - COLOURS - HERE BE SPOILERS

Oh I'm behind on some of my promised arty things so given the beautiful weather we're having today (not) I've been crafting and am now working on a 2" square piece of workspace on my crafting desk (I kid you not) which means it's been a productive day.

I'm in a CJ on UK Scrappers at the moment which is the Rock In Peace Resurrected Circle Journal.  Unfortunately we've had a CJ go missing in action and despite best endeavours it hasn't re-emerged so some girls are re-doing their entry for it, others (like me) are having a first go at it, the CJ that has gone missing is based on colours.

First of all I spent far too long 'thinking' about it, whilst everyone else was logical and gave a big shout out on the forum of which colour they were going to do (not me I was too busy thinking), by the time my list came to fruition most of the colours had been taken and with a request not to repeat colours if at all possible I was back to the drawing board, I spent all morning (all morning I repeat all morning), scanning CD's trawling through lyrics websites all to no avail, then said 11 year old said opt for a specific colour in the search engine and see what it throws up - next minute I'm on You Tube watching Goldfinger's version of 99 Red Balloons and the plan comes together.

Then I decided that the page would need 99 balloons (I kid you not) and several hours and rather sore fingers later it's done.  Now some of the balloons are covered with the hand piccie, but I know on the front of this (including the spine) are exactly 99 balloons.  Had much fun putting this together hope Clare likes it!

The finished page will go into a CD wallet and then the spine (on the left hand side) will be attached and used to put it into the remade book.

 Page on it's own
Signing in page at the back and yes before you ask that balloon would be number 100 - now I know the tracks not 100 red balloons this one is a special balloon for Clare, whose journal it is and whose original journal went missing in action!
Thanks for looking hope you like, now where's that craft list what else have I got to be getting on with.

RIP CJ CATCH UP - ART JOURNAL STYLE/SARAH'S ALBUM COVER/LIZ'S BOARD BOOK

Yes that's right I'm posting because I can - a day off in front of me (albeit with a blood pressure monitor fitted) so what better way to start the day than to head over here and pop a quick post together - decision decisions what to post on here?  Ah actually I could do a Rock in Peace Resurrected CJ catch up all in one post, I've got three to show you - the first is the one I had last which was the Art Journal style Lyrics one of Kate's - for this one I let the picture guide me as I was struggling to find an image to work with, then found this and it worked perfectly for me!

I even glossy accented the title to give it a bit of additional dimension and overall I was really pleased with this one!

Then Sarah's CJ - ooh now this one was fun I could have probably filled the box with 'altered covers' but settled on this one, using a silhouette of a man with a gun I had great fun creating this one!
 And the back
And finally Liz's children's board book which I fought with a little but eventually came up with
I've really enjoyed this CJ up to now currently got a slight delay on receiving the next one but that gives me plenty of thinking time!

Hope everyone likes!

RIP RESURRECTED CIRCLE JOURNAL

Morning all, just thought I'd put a quick post of Beth's page that I did on before it's time to post the next one LOL.

I enjoyed this journal probably because it was a good size which gave me lots of page to play with, I fought with tissue paper which wasn't so great and then with tracing paper but finally managed to beat it into submission to create this double page layout.
The left hand page up close
 And the right hand page
Close ups I wrote the lyrics over the faces with a red sharpie and allowed some of the paint to go over the page, to blend it all in

Used the LP font that I had on the PC and managed to use some grey scrapbook paper which I didn't think I ever would - just shows you - if you can't use it one way you can use it another!

RIP RESURRECTED CIRCLE JOURNAL - STEVE TYLER

Well this is my next entry into this circle journal, now this one proved challenging because my printer decided to die just when I needed it, now I've resurrected it for now but it seems to be still be acting about (much to my disgust but that's another story), not wanting to let anyone down, including myself (I'm a stickler for deadlines) so I pressed ahead, well I say I it is actually 'we' because for this one I needed some expect cutting from dear hubby, I knew what I wanted but with the deadline fast approaching it was a tall order - "why" you may ask - well because my inspiration for this layout came from the Nine Lives album, and this is what we created
Close up the background page was stamped and painted, then the letters cut out and applied and yes there are blue letters behind the black letters
Saying Live For Ten
Behind the right hand page I've created a pocket and used a photo that was thankfully included in the book in case of printer errors!
And on the back some interesting facts to add to the album
then the lanyard at the back
And the back of the lanyard
I actually thoroughly enjoyed creating this even though it was hard without the use of a critical item, what it shows is that we can be versatile even when faced with non working printers.  The next circle journal arrived yesterday but with a posting date of the 1 February 2012 I have plenty of time to resolve the printer issues before then!

ROCK IN PEACE RESURRECTED JOURNAL - THE FIRST ENTRY

Morning all, as some of you might be aware I'm involved in the second rock in peace CJ which is known as Rock In Peace Resurrected, it started last month and I was the first to receive Sian's beautiful circle journal.  Her theme was lyrics so I trawled through lots of music to find some of my favourites to include.  Now one of my 'issues' with mini books is that I like maxi books not mini - I love lots of space to create and Sian's journal was quite small so this proved quite a challenge, however I came up with a way of creating more space.

My first page documents lyrics from a Staind album, the page ended up quite 'art journally' but that doesn't surprise me given the type of work I've been creating recently
Close up you can see the font, paint and clear embossing that I've done.
The opposite page is words from Stone Sour's Through Glass with an acetate sheet in between to create a 'class effect' I've used a crackled glass edge to the acetate as well.
 Up close
Then I've created a 'hidden' page behind the Stone Sour page

I've included the lyrics from a Metallica track, explanations included in the book - I won't spoil the reason as you should all see the book before it's returned to Sian!

And finally, a Linkin Park page, using a Chester stencil that I've used on my own but this one has been made smaller and then using two different types of Linkin Park type fonts that I found.

I was actually really pleased with my entries into the book once I'd finished and that usually takes some doing!
