ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 46TH OF 2022

 Afternoon all, apologies for my tardiness (again), this is getting to be a habit, it is time for 

Well last thursday we went for pre-theatre dining (we being, me, hubby, my Mum and my sister), then we went to see Kinky Boots, it really was exceptionally good and we all had a fabulous evening. 

The weekend was busy, catching up on jobs as you do, but Sunday I went to a craft class with my mum, all Christmas themed, these are the items we were making

I've still got a gingerbread man wreath to finish, but we had a lovely day. 

Monday arrived so quickly and I've had as usual a very busy week in work, however, I worked one day less than normal as Thursday I'd taken a day's TOIL for this momentous occasion.  Said 22 year old graduated, we had such a lovely day, we were in Sheffield very early.  We got his gown sorted first, then onto the professional photos, before we headed over to the venue, however, we popped into the winter gardens for a photo which we thought was a great backdrop for his outfit, he was definitely feeling less stressed as we were ticking things off.  

and then the official walk across the stage and doff of the hat, the things you learn when attending a graduation. 

We highlighted to him just how monumental this was as neither myself nor hubby ever went to University.

In the evening we went for pre-theatre dining and then went to see Blackadder II, it was really funny and a lovely end to a beautiful day.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 37TH OF 2022

Well as anyone that read my blog will have realised last week, I'd prepared my post in advance of it posting on Friday and therefore the devastating news on the Thursday of the Queen's passing wasn't mentioned.  She really was an amazing woman who gave her life to her country, serving it until her final days.  I like many others have watched the news and tribute coverage across all sectors and shed a tear on more than one occasion.  I think it really brought the reality of this fundamental change to British life home last Sunday when there was a two minute silence at a rugby match we were watching (and you could literally have heard a pin drop) followed by a rendition of God Save the King.  I hope now after so many years of service she is finally reunited with her husband and can now rest. 

So onto my Friday 'gratefuls', the moments in the week that have raised a smile.

So first up a shot of me and my Mum at the theatre last Friday, we went to see a rather abridged version of Macbeth, it was fast paced with only 4 actors, but really well done. 

 

the stage and props were sparse but worked nonetheless.  Afterwards we popped to a supermarket to pick up a quick tea as we hadn't eaten and the lady on the register commented on how happy we seemed, which seemed like a strange but rather lovely thing to say. 

I managed to finally catch up with my scrapbooking, it has been about 18 months since I was last caught up, here are a few that I've completed, it was nice just spending some time crafting if I'm honest. 

Saturday night and me and hubby had a date night at a Sheffield theatre to see Much Ado About Nothing (yes that's right 2 Shakespeare plays in 2 days).  This is the stage set for that play.  The play itself was inclusive, the majority of the actors had some sore of disability and able bodied were in the minority, the play was both captioned and signed so the stage was 'busy' for the whole play, the main actress playing Hero signed her entire part with a translator, so it made for a different play I can't imagine how difficult it must have been to work out how to do this, but do this they did and it proved a success. 

Sunday and we decided to have a mindig (mini shindig) for family as both myself and said 21 year old have birthdays this week, as you can see from the numbers on the cake mine is a significant one.  The afternoon was riotously funny as it always is when we all get together, a hive of conversation for the duration of the afternoon and to be honest it was much needed. 

The cake had been made by said 21 year old, his fiancee and her niece and I can confirm it was as tasty as it looks!

and finally said 21 year old's fiancee graduated from Lincoln Uni recently, here is a picture of her in her cap and gown, she has done amazing and recently started teacher training. 

As we are having a few days away for mine and said 21 year old's birthday I'll catch you up on the week next week.  I hope you've all had an awesome week.  

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 21ST OF 2022

 Morning all time for 

Well last Friday we were off and had said 21 year old's graduation show to look forward to in the evening.  We decided to head up to Sheffield early and use the last opportunity to see the Pete McKee show which was brilliant.  We came across his work originally in Scarborough years ago and were amazed to find that he originated in Sheffield. 

It was very busy and the weekend tickets were sold out, so we were glad we managed to make it, he uses emulsion on board

then we headed for a bite to eat, before making our way over to the graduation show, it was amazing to see all the work

Saturday we spent enjoying crafting, a binge watched (background watching) the second series of Bridgerton again whilst scrapbooking and hubby was silversmithing out in his shed, a very positive and productive Saturday.

We had a lovely chilled relaxed afternoon and evening, watching a couple of films - The Adam Project which I particularly enjoyed and Don't Look up which whilst interesting and slightly satirical has the dire ending that you perceived from the get go.  

Monday arrived all too soon so back into work, but only a 3 day week this week for me as I've taken some time back on Thursday.  It has been something of a testing week, but you get those sometimes and with them they remind you of how to enjoy the not so great ones.
