ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 49TH OF 2023

Morning lovely people tis Friday time for

Well last Friday we were due to go to see a Christmas Carol inside Sheffield Cathedral with my sister, but being a nurse she often picks up bugs at this time of year, so alas she couldn't make it.  Me and hubby went anyway and enjoyed a wander around the Sheffield Christmas market albeit that most of it was stalls to either eat or drink, we also wandered a couple of shops on our way around.  We had a naughty tea in McDonalds and then headed to the Cathedral.  The show was done by the Chapterhouse theatre group and was fantastic, the only down side were church pews for two and a half hours, my back isn't what it was.

We had woken to a bright blue skies day, but Jack Frost had been painting on the windows

We had a wander around to the Church in the afternoon for the Christmas tree festival and enjoyed taking photos of the frost

The festival was brilliant as always, I love the handmade items for the trees, they do make me smile from one-eyed donkeys

to knitted polar bears

and tiny mangers

The trees really did look beautiful

and I enjoyed a moment of pre-Christmas solace alone in God's house

Sunday was a different story we woke to a good couple of inches of snow.

and whilst it might look festive it really isn't very convenient these days.  Thankfully we'd already planned a stay at home and chill day if I'm honest.

I've also started my Lego advent calendar, which really is now a bit of a tradition, although there are some days when I still have to google what the items are, thankfully Harry on the 1st was easy.

The rest of the week has been manic busy at work, including today when my primary role was peeling potatoes for chips for our volunteer get together, I've had to come home and have a shower and all my clothes are going in the wash due to the smell of chip fat.  Hey ho the things you do, lol.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 50TH OF 2020

Good morning lovely people time for

Well first up last Friday was my day off and hubby decided to head out to collect a few things that we needed, it is mighty strange being able to hit the shops again, if truth be told but it was also nice to be out of the house.  So we headed to Hobbycraft, B&M and Ikea picking up the few things I needed (plus a few extras) to finish off some things I'm on with.

Saturday soon arrived and we decided to head down to our local heritage centre, there is the most lovely of craft shops down there that I haven't been to since March amongst lots of lovely other shops, a favourite beer shop of hubbies and a lovely stained glass shop that also does crystals.  It was lovely to just have a wander and because it feels old it also felt very Christmassy something that has been sadly lacking the last few days.

I went to the craft shop for

and I left with

I'm sure other crafters can relate.

There were a number of trees dotted about the site

and we had some blue skies overhead, albeit that it was very cold

There was a replica of one of the nearby follies in the courtyard, which is known as the Needle's Eye

And this was my favourite tree on the site as the light level was reducing the tree  seemed to stand out more.

I do a Christmas newsletter every year, it goes back sooooooooooo far if I'm honest and it has become something of a tradition and I get little bits of feedback from people telling me that it isn't Christmas until they receive it, many taking a cuppa and sometimes even a mince pie and some quiet time to sit and absorb, so I shared this on my Instagram feed this week and got a few of those aforementioned comments.

After we got home on Saturday I set too on some homemade gifts I'm working on this was the state of my desk, I'm sure other crafters can relate.

This was our haul from two of the shops at the Heritage centre, Belgian Blue is one of those Christmas beers that hubby loves and normally partakes in a pint or two at the local pub, alas the pubs are still all shut due to our tier 3 restrictions and so the bottled variety may well be the only source this year.  The other bottles are for yours truly, as I'm teetotal it is nice at this time of year to find something festive but non-alcohol and Belvoir do a fabulous Christmas range of which their Spiced Ginger Punch is my absolute favourite.

My other joy this week has been my advent calendar from hubby, I think I mentioned it last week it is a lego Harry Potter Yule Ball calendar.  These are what I've opened up to now.

Harry

A very miniature Hogwarts

A miniature Durmstrang ship

A miniature Beauxbaton carriage

Cho

As well as the usual Christmas cards this year, I sent a few personalised ones in 8 x 8, this was for my sister

My Mum and her hubby (in their favourite football team colours)

One for my niece (and BF) whose a fashion student

Other ones I've sent out

Goblet of fire

Then a gramophone on the 7th

Sofa with the golden egg

The week has been a busy work one as usual for me, working from home Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, still busy bid writing at the moment.

I physically went into the office on Tuesday and had another busy day it was nice to catch up with work colleagues.

The evenings have been spent making homemade gifts, it doesn't matter how organised I am I always end up making gifts at the last minute, it must just be something I do.  Hubby has been quite happy to  die cutting some of the items for me which is boring and rather monotonous but has kept his brain occupied, so a big thank you to hubby.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 49TH OF 2020

Good Morning lovely people tis Friday time for

So this week's list isn't particularly long, but post-Covid, I don't think you'll be expecting miracles.

So first up a very quiet weekend, hubby and said 20 year old were still isolating, but we enjoyed a fire on the log burner and I managed to get a few more scrapbook layouts resolved so that was a positive.

On Monday I headed into work and whilst I plodded slowly through the day it was nice to be back doing something normal.  Likewise, Tuesday was similar as I was in work again and managed to catch up on the backlog of paperwork, I also got a couple of difficult tasks resolved which is always a positive.  However, a day at work meant that there wasn't a lot left of me come hometime, so it has been very much a work, eat, pj's, TV, bed, repeat kind of week.  However, it has been lovely to actually have I'm a Celebrity on the TV albeit from a Castle in Wales rather than in a jungle in Australia.  It has felt like the most normal thing that has happened in a while.

Another positive all the trees, indoor and outdoor lights are up, although I don't have photos at the moment, will attempt to get a few over the weekend I promise.

And my final positive for this week, hubby bought me my very own Harry Potter lego advent calendar and I love it this was from the 1st and is Harry Potter with his wand and a poster for the Yule ball with a candle.  I have opened the 2nd and 3rd but haven't photographed yet (will sort and share next week)

I hope you've all had a positive week, if you fancy joining in pop a post together come back and link up and we can come and visit.

Rocking Your World Friday - 45th of 2019

Morning lovely people tis Friday time for

Well this is going to be a very very short post this week, namely because we succumbed to the dreaded lurgy.

Hubby went down hill over the weekend with the virus and I joined in as I arrived home having seen NT Live Midsummer Night's Dream (encore) performance in a gorgeous little cinema called the Curzon that I didn't even know existed in Sheffield.

And I will be truly honest this virus has floored all three of us, me and hubby completely wiped out for the entire week, yep no work for either of us.  We have coughed and spluttered through it all and with the aches and pains I'm pretty sure this was a flu bug we got.  So why on earth am I talking about it here you might ask.  Well our workplaces allowed us time to recover so that's a positive, we've enjoyed lots of hot drinks, curling up on the sofa and managing temperatures with ample tablets from the pharmacy - so I'll call that a win - a tiny win but a win nonetheless.

We did manage (royal we - hubby) managed to carve the pumpkin, only thing is we didn't get any trick or treaters, but in hindsight with our lurgy that was probably a good thing and said 19 year old has thoroughly enjoyed the plentiful sweeties we've had in.

I loved the reflection in the window

The only other thing I've managed to do this week is to wrap an advent calendar gift that I'm in a swap for, I really enjoyed making the tags a few weeks ago in the shape of a coffee cup.

And that my lovely people is that I'm afraid, I'm grateful hubby managed to make some food for us on quite a few evenings this week (as I definitely wasn't up to it).  I'm glad Wentworth Woodhouse cancelled the Gaia exhibition last night because of the weather, because we wouldn't have managed to make it due to illness anyway.  I've managed to rebook for next week when we will hopefully be well and truly over this bug.

I'm grateful said 19 year old's girlfriend arrived safely yesterday (if you've seen the flood pictures from the north of England today you'll know what I'm talking about).

I hope you've all had a beautiful and blessed and lurgy free week, if you fancy joining in pop a post together come back and link up and we can come and visit.
