MONDAY - HELLO, GAINSBOROUGH, COUCHING AND HERE AND NOW

Good morning, lovely people, it's Monday already sigh, I'm sure the weekends work on a fast forward button. 

However, on a positive note, had a fabulous weekend, really enjoyed spending time with hubby and said 15 year old.  We've got a busy week ahead as well.  

So first up a layout I did documenting our wedding anniversary last year, I did a double page scrapbook layout to compare where we were when we got married versus where we were last year, the photo is of hubby reading the pages. 

The heart photo is his gift to me from him, it is an ametrine heart and is beautiful, he recently bought me a chain so that I can to wear it.  The layout isn't my normal style, but I had a couple of quirky frame lefts over from a shape I'd cut so decided to give them a whirl. 

The kit is a counterfeit kit I put together this month, but haven't properly documented - but it doesn't really matter as I got layouts done which is the main thing!

Another one from Gainsborough Hall and yes Gina you really should go it is a fabulous day out, much larger than we imagined and fairly easy to find once in Gainsborough, we just went left when we crossed over the bridge and found a car park turned around and could spot the hall from there.  It's also good if the weather isn't up to much because it's obviously all inside and it's got a lovely coffee shop at the end!  The photo is me and said 15 year old in the great hall. 

And another one from Gainsborough, they have replicated a piece of Henry VIII clothing in one of the displays which has detailed goldwork on it.  They've then replicated the embroidery piece from the clothing and put it on a frame, so you can see the detail (both front and back).  As said 15 year old is doing textile arts this was really interesting, but more amazingly is actually hand couching - a technique said 15 year old had recently learnt to do using a sewing machine!  We were both really impressed with the detail and also the fact that the method has been around for such a long time! 

Another bright and happy set of photos.  This time it's from Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the iron tree outside the chapel and then a piece of Henry Moore sculpture that was there last year.  I love Yorkshire Sculpture Park (as regular readers will known)!

FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS AND SELF TIMER

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you are having a good weekend I'm posting another couple of layouts.  

First up said 15 year old at Gainsborough Old Hall last summer we had a great trip out there, on our first visit!

Next up two photos taken last year at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, hubby set the self timer up and then a family came trundling through and we assumed the timer would have captured them on the photo, so hubby set it up again.  We had to giggle when we saw that the first 'spoilt' photo actually had hubby walking back towards the camera!  Definitely worthy of a layout!

THIS IS THE LIFE, LLANDUDNO AND LOVE

Well Monday was a weird one, you know the one that you know isn't going to quite pan out but you don't know why, then you get the call from school with a poorly 15 year old on your hands!  Yep that's the one, so having left work I dashed over and collected him, he really wasn't very well at all, so I spent a good proportion of the day running around getting things for him, making sure he is OK, he isn't feeling quite as rough this morning but with a decidedly dodgy belly it really isn't sensible to send him in (they will probably only end up sending him home again anyway!).  So like I said a weird Monday!

Well I'm officially sharing the last three layouts in my blog folder - gulp - I cannot remember the last time it was actually empty!

First up me and said 15 year old at the top of Gainsborough Old Hall earlier in the year, it really is an amazing place to visit, we had a fabulous day there!

Then yet another Alice trail photo, this one taken from a distance, if I recall correctly off the pier, I've left off an additional title as I think 'Llandudno' in the photo more than makes up for it as it were!

Then Bodnant gardens, we were amazed that these rather spikey trees were anything but spikey and we actually quite soft to the touch!

I really had better get a move on with making some more layouts, at the moment I'm working on some homemade gifts which are taking time and my Journal your Christmas which is taking on a mind of it's own - but that's fine I can live with that!

MID-WAY POINT - AND A FEW LAYOUTS!

Yay I made it to Wednesday LOL - the week has been a mighty strange one up to now, so I'm glad it's Wednesday, busy day scheduled ahead so hopefully it will be a quick day - but we shall see!

As those who've wandered across recently will know I've been trying to 'clear' my blog folder of the older layouts and so I have a few more this morning to share.

First up me and hubby at Hodsock Priory during the snow drop season, we had a lovely day and I found out about it through a very serendipitous moment the day before, I'd never heard of the place until then!

I actually enjoyed layering this one up with lots of different elements and embellishments.

Next up a closer shot of me and hubby in front of Gainsborough's Old Hall, I shared another layout the other day when we were miles away - so I had to do a layout that was close up!

And then a layout I did at a local scrapbook class with my Mum, unfortunately the class is no more, but we had fun when we were there.  Photo of my niece on Christmas Day last year!

Then a lovely bright one to match the flowers at Bodnant Gardens earlier in the summer, absolutely fabulous place to visit during the Rhododendron season.  

And last up a family selfie at Nostell Priory.  I loved painting up the huge letters but didn't have a clue initially how I was going to incorporate them into my layout!

So there we have it - more layouts shared, I best get making some new ones don't you think!

DAY TWO BACK ON BLOGLAND

Well the crafting might have taken a back seat, but still loads to share, so I'll crack on I'm sure the mojo will find me again shortly.

So first up a layout documenting a trip to Gainsborough Old Hall, a fabulous place to visit and as we are English Heritage members, free as well, you can't really tell but me and hubby are sat on the bench in front of it!

Then photo of us visiting Nostell Priory earlier in the year, the gardens are quite big and we didn't get chance to do both the garden and the house, mainly just the house, so we shall be returning!

And finally a layout documenting one of my nieces GCSE Art work that she created, if I recall correctly this was part of her timed piece (10 hours in total), it was really quite a large piece to be working on and I loved it!

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 16TH OF 2015

Oh I feel like the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland - I'm late I'm late - mind you I bet no-one has actually noticed LOL!

So what have the last 7 days had in store for us, well apart from the fact the weather has been improving - which is a big Yay!!!!! We've also had a few other things up our sleeves.

A trip out to Yorkshire Sculpture Park - we walked over to the Chapel and got to see the iron tree

We managed a selfie by the river (despite people walking past)

We got to enjoy the view including sculptures in a far off field - red net cylinders with yellow centres

We climbed (albeit slowly) the 71 steps!

And got up close to some highland cattle who were far more interested in eating than us!

We went and had a look at the elephant in the workshop at the end - which is now stood on board a viking ship.  Apparently it's destined for a shopping centre somewhere.

We also managed a jaunt to Gainsborough Old Hall which is quite honestly - fantastic!

We had a great wander and read of all the info around and as it's English Heritage there was no money exchanging hands!

We found some fab textile art which is great given that said 14 year old is doing art textiles

Some of the work was very intricate and detailed

We even managed a walk up to the top of the tower

Wednesday was a sad day as I left my job that I started last April.  I had a lovely send off - really lovely, we all sat and had lunch together, Lynne organised arranged and sorted it - which was lovely!  I got a gorgeous bunch of yellow roses off  Pat and a gorgeous cup and herbal teabags  from Sandra and I got a lovely leaving card and a Hobbycraft gift voucher from all my colleagues and you all know how much I will enjoy using that!  I didn't shed a tear despite getting a bit emotional when the CEO handed over the gifts but I've 'volunteered' to help out during the transitional period so I'll be popping in over the next few weeks so it will ease me back out of the place as it were!

Thursday we headed up to Harewood, we often end up there later in the year so it was nice to go early and with most of the children back at school it was really quiet.  My favourite room in the house is amazing and lighter than previous years thanks to some new blinds they have!

We also enjoyed the story of the world's oldest rum found in Harewood going back to the 1800's - this rum was made when slave trade was still rife throughout the world.  Harewood actually sold some of the rum at Christie's auction a few years ago and donated the money raised in a foundation in memory of a great lady who helped young people in performing arts!

Although I'm not sure I'd have been as keen to try it when the bottles were found looking like this!

We also got to see the marquette of the statue in the garden - both of which can be seen in this photo.

We even managed a family selfie!

And said 14 year old managed chips in the garden - she says rolling her eyes!

We were also amazed to see the red kites there - amazing to see so close!

Said 14 year old got a panoramic for me - expect to see this on a scrapbook layout shortly!

We also enjoyed the walk around the birds, overall a fabulous day out!

Other positives this week have been rejoining Slimming World with a better frame of mind, given the health issues that we've had to deal with over recently months in the family as a whole this had definitely fallen by the wayside but back on it now!

Mini book making - which I love - however I've got a bit obsessed and created about 5 up to now this week - no idea what I'll use them for but they've been fun to make

Spending time with hubby and said 14 year old and enjoying going back through the Fast and Furious films, also getting said 14 year old to watch The Outsiders finally - one of my favourite films in my teens and my go to teen book as well - amazing story and fantastic film!
