ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 8TH OF 2025

 Morning lovely people tis Friday time for

So last Friday we arrived home from Center Parcs, I'm grateful that me and hubby worked as a team to get everything away and the washing sorted within a few hours of being home. 

Then he finally opened his birthday gifts (well 2/3rds of them anyway) and then we opened Valentine's gifts.  I noted in the last few years that we rarely make a big thing of anniversaries or Valentine's days, so I've asked we make a bit more of an effort.  

So this year we had gifts and cards, I bought an acrylic block photo for hubby of a picture we had taken last year, we look so chilled and relaxed and I love the photo, I also made him a picture and hubby bought me something I genuinely wasn't expecting my very own Lego.  But not any old Lego, no a Robert Indiana piece, that I love, it is still on show at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. 

We had great fun building it together, such a lovely memory if I'm honest.

On Saturday we had invited family over for a get together, not that we knew what we were cooking, thankfully me and hubby managed to come up with a plan.  Hot dogs and burgers and we made double chocolate scones, normal fruit scones and some cheese scones.  Hubby also made his cinnamon cake and everyone descended mid afternoon and we had a lovely catch up putting the world to rights.  The noise level at one point was off the charts but it was grand to catch up. 

This was the table before everyone came, we set the hot buffet tray up on the side with the hot dogs and burgers so that kept everything warm. 

There were 10 of us in total for the afternoon and it was lovely, I definitely had the feeling that my Mum was about. 

I'm immensely grateful to said 24 year old, I asked him to source a gift for his Dad as he was more knowledgeable and he managed it, it was touch and go at one point, he came along on Saturday having sourced the item which was acoustic electric guitar, hubby has always wanted to learn to play and I thought, why not there should be enough tutorials, apps etc for him to learn and hopefully enjoy, I think he was a little surprised, but it honestly would not have come about without said 24 year old, so I'm grateful for him taking the time to sort this - he is an absolute star. 

We were shattered on Sunday and had a lazy day if I'm honest, but we had also booked to see 'The Ripper Files' at the local theatre.  It isn't a play we've seen before and at first it seemed to just be a play giving the chronological story of Jack the Ripper through the eyes of Lestrange one of the key police officers on the case.  However, there was a plot twist near the end which we all enjoyed despite it being somewhat far-fetched. 

Monday was my first day back in work and I was working from home, the inbox was extremely full if truth be told and despite working until the late hour I genuinely didn't get to the bottom of the inbox.  Thankfully I arranged with my colleague to work from home again on the Tuesday in the hope that I could make headway and actually get to some of the key pieces of work that I needed to do. 

Wednesday was another hectic day at work and hubby was out delivering on the vans.  

In the evening I went to see the new Bridget Jones film with my sister, daughter in law and niece.  It was a lovely girly evening, despite the fact I hadn't seen all the films. 

Thursday and we headed to my step-Dads to sort my Mum's craft room, to be honest we lost heart a little bit with it previously, but I'm determined to move things forward this year, so me and my sister scheduled things in our diary to get things done, this is the first activity of that schedule.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 7TH OF 2024

 This is over a week late, but in all the time I've been doing Rocking posts I have never completely missed a post and so here it is albeit it is 7 days late. 

So Friday the 9th we managed to get to the hospital appointment which was good and hubby had the biopsy taken. 

On the Saturday we had a get together for the valentine's birthdays in the family, both hubby and Mum share the birthday and we were able to get everyone to ours which was a blessing. 

We had a great get together and it was lovely to catch up with everyone. 

On the Sunday we had tickets to see Ed Byrne comedian at Barnsley Civic, for his Tragedy plus Time tour. 

It was a superb show, genuinely but it really was very poignant, touching on the death of his younger brother and whilst there was much comedy as it was the second year anniversary of this it was obviously still very raw.  

The rest of the week tripped along, we had a day over at said 23 year old's and his wife, hubby helped daughter in law learn how to panel one of the walls and me and said 23 year old were stripping paper off the breast wall and filling it.  It was a very busy long day but also great fun. 

Tuesday was Shrove Tuesday so we had pancakes for tea. 

Hubby's actual birthday on the 14th we bought a meal deal to share with said 23 year old and wife, so another family get together which was fab. 

He bought me some exquisite long stem roses.

This was the table before our meal, we were so busy chatting we never got a photo together, having such a lovely evening. 

The thursday was spent in the hospital with Mum, we are currently in a holding pattern with input from more people, Macmillan are now involved in providing support, a dietician, local authority are installing grab rails things are moving at a pace and I'm unsure of what that means in real terms. 

Said daughter-in-law had another follow up appointment at the hospital and is now being referred to Sheffield, they genuinely don't know what the issue is which is frustrating but hopefully Sheffield will be more proactive to get to the bottom of things. 

And those were my grateful moments last week. 

Rocking Your world Friday - 8th of 2020

Good morning lovely people tis Friday time for

Well it has been a very very quiet week overall, we went from the craziness of Storm Ciara to the equally awful Storm Dennis, I'm not so sure about naming these storm as they really aren't nice, high winds lots and lots of rain and to be honest we really didn't want to move much.

Hubby took last Friday off given that it was Valentine's day, but more so that it was his birthday (and my Mums).  We had arranged an impromptu breakfast catch up at Ikea to start the day off right.

We had a lovely catch up and my sister had kept it a surprise so my Mum was a little overwhelmed and teary at first, there was a present exchange given that we had two birthday people around the table and we had a thoroughly good catch up. 

At home hubby had treated me to the most exquisite flowers and I used them in a red vase to make a change. 

They really are beautiful and are still going strong at the moment.  

The rest of the weekend was quiet, we shared a meal from the Chinese takeaway on hubby's birthday and had a meal deal for two on Saturday night rather than going out. 

Hubby got some new films for his birthday and with no six nation's rugby being played he had time to watch Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Ad Astra, I used the time to scrapbook, still ploughing through 2017 photos I'm now up to around July, so I'm doing well all things considered, I am going to have to consider the next photo order at this rate which will be hard work because the photo folders are quite honestly in a mess, but it's of my own doing, so I'll just keep on plodding with them.  I therefore sort of half watched the films, both very strange and very thought provoking if truth be told.

Work has been technically quiet due to half term but that has just meant more intensive days which means I come home feeling very tired albeit mental tiredness. 

I am enjoying scrapbooking again but I am irritated that the weather is scuppering plans to go out and do things at weekends and we have another front of high winds for this weekend.

Rocking Your World Friday - 7th of 2019

Good afternoon lovely people, tis Friday time to settle back and consider the silver lining and positive moments from the last seven days for it is time for 

First up has to be time to craft last week, I managed a gelli plate session and my first ever pallet knife painting with acrylics whilst waiting in for a delivery.  My sister said it was instantly recognisable as the statue at Tintagel which pleased me no end as I thought I'd be spending all my time explaining it. 

I really enjoyed it, the base was a canvas board, I think a standard stretched canvas may prove more challenging and I'd like to work larger if I'm honest, but for my first attempt I was rather happy with the finished item. 

Next up our weekend walks to be the pub are proving much fun it has to be said.  With bright blue skies, we are heading out with hiking boots on and walking along the bridle path up by the fields, its a lovely walk and we achieve in excess of 10K steps when we do it. 

Next up 6 Nations rugby, we have never been a big sports watching family but rugby is the exception and a national match is always a delight and it was an awesome match.  

On Wednesday night when the boys were at their silversmithing class I arranged a meet up with my sister as we would both have been home alone watching TV, plus we had gifts to buy and birthday cards to resolve. 

We met up, sorted gifts and presents before heading for a meal at Tapas Revolution, that neither of us had been to before.  We ordered a shared meal for two and drinks, this is the homemade lemonade that I ordered which was lovely. 

We sat and put the world to rights for a couple of hours before venturing back into the shopping centre.  We were about to part company when I said we hadn't managed to get a decent photo of the trip, so we grabbed a chair and after several selfies taken by my sister had a selection to go at, but my favourite by a long shot was one where she used filters, we were literally laughing out loud 

I got home to find hubby had bought me flowers in preparation of Valentine's Day

As it was also hubby's birthday yesterday we went out for breakfast to the local garden centre

and then in the afternoon we went for our walk up to the pub again (well it was such a beautiful day) 

We sat out in the empty beer garden, I was really thirsty so ordered pop as well

We walked back and had a few hours with said 18 year old before he headed off out with his girlfriend and we settled down to a Valentine's meal courtesy of Morrisons dine in for two type deal, it was a lovely evening.
