CKCB KIT LAYOUTS 13 & 14 - Hello There and Book Love

Morning all, well I'm on a roll with this kit again, sharing layouts 13 and 14 for this month.

First up this one which I based on the scrapology sketch for this month.  Now the sketch is based on a gorgeous layout but no matter what I did I couldn't find the right photo, when I found this one I decided to rotate the sketch ninety degrees to achieve the overall look of the layout! 

Photo taken by said 13 year old last year and it's a shot I love of me and hubby.

The sketch is this one and hopefully if you click the sketch it will take you over to the scrapology blog (fingers and toes crossed I've done this right), where you can see other 'takes' on the sketch!

Next up photo of hubby looking through a book he found in a second hand bookstore in Alnwick last year, it was Dante's Inferno and was from the 1800's.  It had a hefty price tag but was pretty awesome it has to be said. However, hubby decided against buying it, something he has talked about frequently since that day I might add!

I used some 'ledger' paper as the size of the book reminded me of those old ledgers that you can find sometimes.  I then added a mix of tags and journal blocks and the hot air balloon to the layout.

SCRAPOLOGY AND COUNTERFEITING = A GREAT COMBINATION

Good morning, well today I'm sharing a layout that uses the Scrapology sketch for February, linked with the counterfeit kit I put together for February!

It's a really unusual sketch and definitely not in line with my 'normal' style but was fun to work outside the box as it were.

The layout documents one of the amazing sculptures at the Beyond Limits exhibition last year at Chatsworth!

I used a blend of ink blobs, stamps and confetti pieces that I punched out of my little heart punch.  All in my Counterfeit kit box for the month!

I used one of the tags that was on one of the sheets in my kit for the title and added a large heart.

FINAL TAKE ON THE SCRAPOLOGY JANUARY SKETCH - PART 5

Yes that's right not one or two or even three layouts, but I managed 5 (I could have carried on I could honestly).

This was a fabulous picture taken at Scarborough's north bay late one evening last year.  It really was a beautiful evening and there were a few surfers and paddle boarders out in the bay.

I chose orange to contrast against the different blues I used on the picture.

SCRAPOLOGY JANUARY SKETCH - PART 4

Yes that's right I didn't create one or two layouts on this challenge but many - this is my next take on the same sketch.  I love how very different my pages look despite the continuity due to the sketch.

Now this one took me outside my comfort zone - I don't tend do go over the top on colours and papers and I don't usually do this sort of colour scheme, but I thought with the fabulous rainbow piccie my sister took that I could just about get away with it.

I'll share my fifth and final layout on this sketch challenge tomorrow!

SCRAPOLOGY LAYOUT PART 3

Next layout that I created using the Scrapology challenge for January.  This one is my favourite take on the sketch.

I love the blend of papers and the use of buttons on the sketch!!!

SCRAPOLOGY JANUARY SKETCH PART 2

Well this is my second take on the Scrapology January Sketch - I love it when I get a good sketch (mind you new stash helps).

I often struggle with papers that have large significant designs on them, so when I first saw the main sheet with the gorgeous 'square' design I love it but at the same time I was also fearful that I'd never be able to use it, imagine my delight when I realised I could incorporate it into the sketch challenge.

I DO LIKE A GOOD SKETCH

Good Morning, well I must admit I have a slight weakness for a great sketch and this month on the Scrapology blog is no different, so I thought I'd have a play, this is my first take on the sketch (I've done more than one) that I thought I'd share.

It's so lovely to be working with new stash, hubby bought me shed loads for Christmas, he kept apologising all the parcels were the same shape but I was grinning from ear to ear.

I'll share my next layout with you tomorrow, this was a slow photo-bomb photo of said 13 year old from a visit to YSP last year!

GOOD MORNING AND A LAYOUT

These days I just don't seem to have time for anything - in particular blogging, my mornings of taking son to school at half eight are well and truly over because he's now at secondary school, so we are all up earlier and out of the house earlier.  I'm learning to readjust but it's taking time - a lot of time.

So here I am trying to pre-plan - and I thought why not preplan a post.

Here is one I did using the layout that is appearing on the Scrapology website, strangely enough Kat had already posted a link to this a while ago on our UK Scrappers group, so this is one I've had waiting in the wings, I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed playing with hexagons and this mix of colours on this one with the different papers was fun!

The hexagons were made after I'd stuck scrap paper down on to a sheet of cardstock and then cut out, such fun.

SATURDAY WEIRDNESS AND THE SCRAPOLOGY CHALLENGE

I tell you my life is just getting stranger, this morning I went to work again on a Saturday - what on earth is that all about - the building was empty I was the only one in - other than my hubby who turned up to sort some notice boards for me bless him!  

My life is ultra stressful at the moment, so taking it in little bite sized focused pieces to stop me throwing myself off the edge into oblivion (I've done that before not fun) is fairly essential. 

Sat and watched Comic Relief which made me laugh and cry in equal measure - such wonderful entertainment whilst constant reminders made sure we knew what we were contributing towards, rang through and gift aided a donation mid-evening and stayed up til just after midnight to watch it - even said 10 year old stayed up but he found some of the reality a little overwhelming so ended up sat cuddling on the sofa explaining why it was important to help as much as we could.  

After work popped to the chemists at the walk in clinic who once I'd described my symptoms sent me toddling down to the walk in clinic itself - so before i knew it I was sat in front of a nurse and then given a prescription - hell fire I knew I wasn't hundred percent hadn't realised I was actually quite poorly - no wonder I've been feeling off! 

Come home to wall to wall rugby which I really don't mind and dear hubby just popped out to sort some food for later.  Had a chat with sister on phone (and a good cry and a bit of a rant) then had a chat with lil bro and did the same they are such good listeners when I need and in turn hope that I am the same for them.

So that's Saturday up to now - underline the word weird!

Now for some crafting this is a challenge on the scrapology website for March, quite a difficult layout for me - hubby said it was 'busy' and it certainly was but really pleased with the finished results!

 The closer detail I had some flowers but decided to cut some out that I'd hand stamped and then popped them through an embossing folder.  I love the shop bought ones but often find them quite expensive for a small quantity so most of these are handmade - shop bought is the lime green one in the middle on the right but the navy blue and green and turquoise ones you can see are all handstamped on cardstock, hand cut and then dry embossed - happy with the results

 then the title is an upcycled clothing tag that I've add stamped title to - really pleased with the result.

 then the stitching detail on the layout - little punched flowers finish it off.

 A little bit of bling within the flowers and that's your lot

SCRAPOLOGY FEBRUARY CHALLENGE

Last month I came across the Scrapology blog which had a great double page layout as a challenge.  I joined in and was amazed to find that I won - thank you ladies!  Anyway they've got another great layout for their February challenge this month and so I set too with great gusto I liked the layout so much that I didn't just do one layout LOL - this is what happens when I find a great sketch I use it more than once and I'm always amazed and how different the layouts look.  The first was a festive layout that i did of the local Christmas tree Festival - now I know I promised to make this a non-Christmas blog post but can't help it because it was the first one that I did for the challenge LOL

however, to prove I do scrap more than just Christmas here is the sketch used again on the new black steps at YSP

and again later on the same day when my Mum and my son and my niece were posting for the camera!

and all these followed the basic principle of the original sketch but different papers etc make the page look completely different!

Looking forward to the March sketch now - wonder how many different versions of the sketch I can do for that one LOL!  

Right off to play with paper again! 

 

A FABULOUS SKETCH

I love blogland and the camaraderie of it all and I also love how sometimes you come across something and for the life of you you can't workout how you found it you're so glad you did - this can be said for the Scrapology blog  which had a fabulous January sketch challenge that I fell in love with - and it was a double page layout to boot!  I love sketches, when you need a boost to your inspiration a basic layout can lead to some great crafting - so this is what I did last night and checking on the blog this morning - I haven't missed the window for the challenge!  Phew!  

I'm really pleased with the finished results and it means the four photos of us on the beach haven't been split up into different layouts but combined to show the 'whole' visit!  

 The pages up close - I changed the circle for a heart and of course it's stitching! 

 I'm not sure said 10 year old was really grasping the idea of skimming stones - more like throwing rocks! 

I made an error on the stamping at the end of embracing life - I put the exclamation mark on it's side which just made me seem very special - but being a true Virgoan this would have driven me insane, so I hand cut some hearts and placed them next to the statement and went round them with a black pen - twice to make it look intentional!  I am a great believer that anything can be recovered if you set your mind to it!

So here's to discovering new blogs - thank you Scrapology for a fabulous design - can't wait to see the February challenge!  Off to post my link - hope everyone's having a great Wednesday - it is Wednesday isn't it?  Apparently it was Wednesday yesterday too (see previous post) - sorry - don't know whether I'm wishing my life away, whether I can blame my cold or whether I'm just losing the plot!
