ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 34TH OF 2026

 Good evening lovely people tis Friday time for

Well last Friday I was working which is most unusual but I'd swapped my week around due to my niece's wedding.  I was working from home and managed to finish a little earlier which was great.  

I had the weekend planned as hubby was boat training, my plan was to craft with Bridgerton playing in the background which is exactly what I did.  I have a friend and I make mini books for her two girls' birthdays each year and so I put together a new mini book. 

This was the one I completed on Saturday 

It was a different design than I'm used to so it was fun to create something different. 

and this was the one I did on Sunday

I was using an eclectic mix of papers as I'm in 'using up' mode.  Hopefully the girls enjoy filling them with birthday memories. 

I've been busy at work this week, swapping my days back to normal, so it was nice to go and harvest some of the items I've grown this year on Wednesday night. This is my first heritage striped tomato, some orange cherry tomatoes and cucamelons (which are very strange and fun to grow but definitely an acquired taste). 

and this raised a smile my first successful strawberry plant with a flower.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 31ST OF 2026

 Evening all I hope I find you well on this Friday evening time to clock the silver linings and positive moments. 

So last Friday hubby was busy doing a boat trip, so I used the time to have a wander around the shops, something I don't do very often it has to be said, I enjoyed a few hours of browsing and met up with him afterwards which was lovely.  

Our son and daughter-in-law let us know they were travelling back from Cornwall on Friday night, rather than wait until the Saturday morning, it was still a problematic journey home but they did land safely so that is definitely something to be joyful for. 

We've had some lovely catch ups with them this week post holiday, lots about their holiday and what they got up to and I managed to get this beautiful photo of son and our grandson together. 

I had a bit of a nightmare with my first crocheted blanket in the fact that I ran out of a wool colour four stitches from the end, honestly it was so frustrating but I genuinely couldn't change the tension on it, so I managed to source another ball of wool and this is the finished item, for my first attempt I am as you can imagine absolutely over the moon, it is definitely not perfect but I had great fun creating it. 

I'm currently on with a crocheted bag (well 3 crocheted bags) requested by my niece who is due to get married and wanted her bridesmaids to have something to carry, I have never crocheted with ribbon and it is proving exceptionally difficult if I'm brutally honest added to which I'm running an extra ribbon within the crochet for stability, I've no idea if the finished item is what my niece wants, fingers crossed she will be happy with the finished items if I get them done on time. 

Finally I've come to the end of my physio appointments for now, the hope is that I won't need to return once normal winter footwear resumes but we will see, thankfully he has been good enough to keep the appointment open for 6 months so I can return if things deteriorate.

After my physio appointment we ventured to YSP to meet my brother, his fiancee and her parents for a wander around the art and a catch up, I haven't seen my brother and his fiancee in a while so we had a lovely catch up and its the first time I got to meet her parents so that was joyful, however I completely forgot to take photos which is somewhat frustrating other than the pieces installed as part of the artist in residency work that we saw in the main centre. 

And that my lovely people is my lot this week, I hope yours has been grand.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 26TH OF 2026

 Morning apologies, let's just pretend that its Friday 

So last Friday I had a lovely day visiting my cousin, she doesn't live far and we have children (albeit they are now adults) of a similar age, she has always been an absolute rock for me at times when life has been challenging and I hope I have for her in turn helped when life has been difficult.  She lives in a beautiful home with an utterly gorgeous garden and we whiled away hours chatting about life the universe and everything, we had tea made by her lovely hubby and caught up, the downside no photos, you'll just have to take it from me that it was a wonderful catch up. 

On Saturday my sister came over and we made mid-summer wreaths together.  We had collected some oak leaves and mod-podged them to retain their colour it will be interesting to see how long they last, we also gathered some rosemary and some lavender, so it smells lovely.  I bought the grapevine wreath and had ample ribbons to add to it with the colours of midsummer.  The jangling bells rattle when we come through the door which is lovely and it made me feel happy.  

My sister was equally happy with hers albeit that it looks very different.

hubby fancied something 'sweet' one evening which is a rarity so I created this apple and sultana muffins, we had little in the way of oil so I substituted apple sauce and reduced down the sugar content. 

On Sunday it was Father's day we met our son, daughter-in-law and grandson at YSP for a lovely walk we didn't take many photos as trying to be present in the moment, but I did get these two of my grandson being very giddy with his new toy

When we got home we ordered in Dominoes as a Father's day treat, so no one had to cook (plus it was mighty warm). 

When it arrived we served up and this sequence of photos had us all giggling. 

We had ordered a little garlic bread for our grandson, he's teething so chewing on the crust was much appreciated.

and then he had us all giggling, he couldn't work out which bit was food and which bit wasn't, and I'll be honest with a UPF tea, we feel the same quite often. 

Hubby got a cup on Father's day from Grandson which goes nicely with mine from Mother's day

and this was the goodies from son and daughter-in-law which were much appreciated but far too much, including a few beers which he's enjoyed this week. 

Monday I was back to work as normal, with meetings with the auditors which added to the to do list, so I was busy and it was a long day but making progress which is always good. 

Tuesday our son, d-i-law, and grandson came for tea as normal.  Our Grandson has been struggling with what is potentially a summer cold so he was off his food and it was way too warm for all of us.  They didn't stay too long had their tea and then headed home which I thought was sensible, I also sent them with our second fan which can have water and freezer blocks in it, to help at home, thankfully our grandson is apparently much better. 

Wednesday night and we headed to Cast at Doncaster to see the Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) by the Reduced Shakespeare Company which was a really good evening. 

We saw three of the cubs inside the theatre as part of the Pride of Lions trail for Sheffield Children's Hospital 

the set was simple but with a touring show and the subject matter it wasn't surprising

We have yet to do a full day looking for lions but are enjoying finding the odd one on our travels. 

I'm going to leave our weekend (and the reason I was late) until next week's post.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 25TH OF 2026

Morning all  I hope I find you well time to clock the silver linings and positive moments from the week. 

So last Friday I was due to catch up with my cousin but she had to cancel due to things she needed to sort so we rescheduled.  So I had a tootle to Hobbycraft to have a wander and then met my sister for an impromptu coffee.  I had bought her some wool and a crochet hook and as we sat having our coffee

I taught her how to single crochet which is where I started earlier in the year, it wasn't long before she got into the flow and we had a good natter.  Then we walked around a couple of shops before we went to find one of the Lions for the pride of Lions that Sheffield has done to raise money for the Children's Hospital, this one was outside and my sister is reading the narrative in the background.  They've done 150 lions and lionesses and 150 cubs which are dotted further afield than just Sheffield this year which is good. 

Then my sister left, I picked up a few more bits and then headed home to continue cataloguing our books as they currently reside in a number of rooms we decided sensibly that it would be prudent to put them into 'genre' and then catalogue what we've got and their location.  It is going to be a tedious job but hopefully worthwhile. 

Saturday we had a day out at the local heritage centre, meandering the shops.  I bought a new crystal that had been carved into a Celtic Knot. 

On Sunday we went to YSP as there was a new underground exhibition.  My sister also wanted to go to see the art installation in the chapel which is the artist that did the tendrils on the latest Wuthering Heights film but our main interest was the new exhibiton.  We had a great walk and chat and enjoyed some amazing artwork.

The artists were a collective of artists whose heritage is native American Indian

Probably my favourite piece was the textile art, this is made out of army blankets, the detail on the individual letters was stunning

and the size of it was breath taking, it too had tin jingles sewn on

and we enjoyed walking amongst the trees

We had a lovely day and didn't get back until tea time. 

Tuesday and we had visitors for tea, munchkin enjoyed trying homemade pizza

hubby bought me some new roses

and I thinned out the old ones and put them in the window

I found this book in a charity shop recently and it was a delight to read, much of the quoted information written in a Yorkshire dialect, I will certainly be looking for more of his work (and discovered we had a couple already). 

I'm also still on with my March learning project of trying and I underline that word trying to grow vegetables, this is the yellow courgette and they seem (touch wood) to be doing OK.
