ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 17TH OF 2026

 Morning all I hope I find you well, time to clock the positive moments and silver linings for it is time for 

Last Friday was a sad day as I had a funeral to attend, but having done one the week before I was feeling a little fragile so I made the decision to attend online, I struggle to see the emotions of individuals at such things and as I'm still grieving for my Mum it has been a tough couple of weeks, so why does it make a show on a positive post, I'm grateful that technology gave me the ability to attend in my own way. 

In the evening we had tickets to see a John Godber play called 'Teechers' which was a fabulous watch, it is a touring theatre company and I can highly recommend. 

I also photographed my first ever completed granny square in crochet, I can't tell you how proud I am that I managed to achieve this, I don't for one minute think it is without flaws but I never genuinely thought I'd manage to make one.  Hubby then asked what I was going to do with it, and with a stack of wool still to use I have set about making the centres of lots of new squares, I'm not sure if this is the best way to do it, but my hope is that I can get the pattern fixed in my mind so that I can do it again without having to watch the instructional video on constant rewind. 

Saturday was our 28th wedding anniversary and we decided to head to Brodsworth, their Easter trail was still dotted around the garden

And this was a new vista as they've improved the pathways around

This was hubby's gift to me that he had made himself, it is our Celtic knot from our wedding

The sun came out near the end of our visit

I loved the riot of colour that these caused

and seeing the ferns unfurling

I'm not sure what these are, they remind me of lily of the valley but I'm not sure that is what they are

The tree was still in blossom, after Storm Dave the blossom took something of a battering so it was nice to see one still in full bloom

The church is always stunning it reminds me of a typical English church 

On Sunday we had visitors, it looks like he took this himself but it was definitely me pressing the button

I managed to read this over the weekend, I have all 4 of them and have decided to read them in the season

I also concluded reading this, which was another good read

The centres of the granny squares continues to grow, but on my calculation last night I'm going to need 56 of them to make a throw like blanket.  

On Tuesday (I know a school night what was I thinking), we went to see 'The Sign of a Four' a radio show detailing the Sherlock Holmes story, it had Colin Baker (of Doctor Who fame) in it who is 82, we both really enjoyed it

Thursday and I was out in the garden when I spotted this 'orange tip' butterfly enjoying the aubretia and it still makes me wonder why are most butterfly names so very boring, I think they need renaming

 I was painting up the steps that we use in the garden on Thursday, it was lovely to be outside enjoying the sunshine and fresh air if I'm honest. Hubby was on the front of the house, weeding the drive and washing the cars, so we both had a productive time and then we had a couple of hours reading (and crocheting) on the deck.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 20TH OF 2024

 Morning all tis Friday time for 

Well I have had a good week, last Friday we had a good day weather wise, so we made the most of it, hubby pressure washed decks and I sorted out the planters, we picked some plants up and I replanted the pots which look so much better for the change.  Hubby then made a start painting the deck and I joined him after I finished planting, we also had 2 trips to the tip to get rid of some of the rubble and bricks that we still had in the garden from when the wall was removed a couple of years ago, but we'd retained to help with the foundations on the extension to the decking. 

After the very tiring day on Friday we agreed to have a chilled and relaxed weekend, we headed up to bed around 10pm and I browsed my tablet to find lots of Northern Light pictures, we had a venture outside in pyjamas to see if we could see anything and whilst very faint due to the light pollution I did manage to capture this. 

On Saturday we headed to Brodsworth for the first time in a very long time.  We expected to only be there an hour or two, but we genuinely soaked up all the atmosphere and everything to see, it was a blissful day together. 

I love this life sized sculpture, a stark contrast to the stocata walls. 

The wall paper was supposed to emulate the fashionable leather (yes real leather) wallpaper of the era, but they couldn't afford, so this heavily gilded paper was the alternative. 

We spotted people outside enjoying a game or two of croquet, which made me smile as Bridgerton Series 3 is due out and the game of Pall Mall uses similar equipment, although I think it would be more floating dresses, rather than almost cricket whites. 

After we wandered the house we enjoyed a cuppa and shared a piece of rose battenburg cake, which didn't taste of rose, but did have a marzipan flavour. 

Outside the blue skies were glorious.

They've cleared the area in front of the temple, so you have a better view of the house, how it would have been when it was built and we discovered the ice house is below the temple. 

I still love the church at the bottom of the hill.

and English Heritage have spent money renovating the original game larder. 

We saw the horse chestnut in full flower, absolutely beautiful. 

Sunday and we headed to YSP for a walk again, it was a lovely day and we enjoyed the walk immensely.

The wisteria flowers smelt beautiful in front of the full visitors centre. 

Sunday afternoon and my sister popped to see us, which was lovely, we talked for hours, put the world to rights and then she stayed for tea. 

Monday and my first work day was mighty busy again, but I enjoyed it immensely. 

Tuesday and Wednesday were equally busy but enjoyable although I came home shattered.

Thursday and we've been to Ikea today and bought some under bed storage boxes and come home, cleared out under out bed and decanted the contents of the old ad-hoc boxes into the new boxes.  They fit really well and will be much easier to clean around when I clear under the bed. 

I then sorted my side of the wardrobe and the shoes at the bottom.  I've packed away winter clothes for now, then separated work clothes and home clothes and realised what few clothes I have for summer (which I'd suspected).  We then headed out in the afternoon to go looking for some v-neck t-shirts for hubby.  The scar tissue from his operation is being aggravated by normal t-shirts.  We managed to find a couple in Matalan, none in TK Maxx but came up trumps in H&M and then I spotted a few tops in H&M that I liked as well.  I've genuinely spent far too much topping up the wardrobe, but clothes buying is one of my pet hates so I will simply accept it and move on.

Rocking Your world Friday - 25th of 2020

Afternoon lovely people tis Friday time for 

Well this week we should have been in Cornwall, but instead we've had a staycation at home, we have continued to work through our list of jobs that needed resolving and have managed to clear a fair few this week including painting a room and sorting some jobs outside, although the weather has hardly been in our favour. 

We've also managed to pick up a few things that we needed/wanted and we've managed three trips out albeit with social distancing.

Our first trip of the week was to Brodsworth and whilst the hall is closed the gardens which are always lovely to wander are back open.

We missed the laburnum arch in flower this year unfortunately with the pandemic but it was nice to see them replanting the formal gardens

The sunken garden was bright and warm as always at this time of year 

We also managed a selfie in the sweet smelling rose garden

Enjoyed seeing the busy hives

And probably the prettiest picture I've taken this year, the church in the grounds of Brodsworth really is picture postcard worthy

Tuesday was a house day but on Wednesday we managed a wander out to Worsbrought mill for a walk which was lovely despite having to dodge the odd puddle and enjoy the dappled shadow of the trees

Again we managed a selfie, this time make up free

The rest of the week has tripped along at a merry old pace and we've definitely made a dent on our bank account, but it has been nice to stop and enjoy some us time.

One last grateful this week was a neighbour bringing around a black forest tray bake

It was absolutely stunning if I'm honest and was lovely to share with said 19 year old and his gf.
