During the summer I was lucky enough to secure a bargain pack of papers and embellishments from Jen at Wear Crafts for some Simple Stories goodies as part of their 'A Charmed Life' range. I was not disappointed when I received them, lush greens and blues, loads of extras included. I've finally managed to start playing using the same, adding in some plain card stock I've really pushed this kit to it's limits.
First up a panoramic picture we took when visiting Barnard Castle - a fabulous ruined castle literally in the middle of Barnard Castle!
This seemed like a strange place to start, using the strips that you cut off the bottom onto a sheet of plain yellow card stock. I added some hand stitching, stickers and a title with a brief amount of journalling.

Crikey Rocking Your World, I'm typing this Friday morning, because last night my night wasn't rocking as car issues again, so rather than try and write it whilst I was feeling sad and miserable I thought I'd wait and do it this morning. So here we go
First up some of the new recipes we've been trying, this was a red Thai curry that I made, very tasty - too much but very tasty none the less.
Scrapping of an evening, this has come about due to a challenge by a friend and has meant some productivity of an evening - however, there was officially an epic fail last night after car issues - sorry Sarah!
Getting through jobs in my little home office on the world's smallest desk!
Autumn evenings with the sun shining and a pot of fresh coffee made by hubby - it's the little things!
Plus the sound of the bubble pump is fab, it makes such a lovely noise, it doesn't look great as it had suffered following the lawn being mowed but it sure sounded pretty!
Talking of tidying the garden, it might not look much but this was about 10 inches deep when we started it, so yay for pulling the garden back in line, plus we managed to tidy the borders too!

Showing the number of albums I have at the moment, most of these are well beyond the original 10 plastics as I extend them all with cupboard bolt joiners.

So rounding off the layouts created from the lovely Jen at Wear Crafts, 12 Pledge's Kit for August 2014.
So with those one I scored a sheet of blue cardstock at 2 inches, 4 inches, 6 inches 8 inches and 12 inches both horizontally and vertically and then did a hand running stitch up and down these squares. I then add the square cut out elements and inked them and then applied them haphazardly to the paper.
Photo from Flamborough Head beach. The title strip, the piece of paper behind and the one along the bottom edge of the photo were simply the cut off strips of paper that give you the name of the paper etc, which in this case had a little bit of the design included on them.

This was the final page I put together, I was tempted to go for the blocked rectangular layout that I have enjoyed over recently months, but again decided to mix it up. Inked a blue cardstock sheet. Overlaid the rectangles, added stitching and washy tape - the photo was as stated the world's best crab sandwich.
I stamped the word crab on one of the journal elements and low and behold, Jen must have known about the sandwich as there was a 'crab' piccie on one of the design cards which I cut out and mounted on foam dots!
All in all a fun layout to finish off this fabulous kit. So for £5 I added a sheet of blue cardstock and a sheet of white, a bit of washi tape, couple of buttons, a bit of embroidery thread and a couple of doilies. And managed, not one or two or three or even four layout but six in total. As always a fabulous kit Jen - thank you!

Good morning one and all I woke this morning knowing I'd forgotten something, I couldn't work out what then realised that I hadn't prepared my Rocking Your World post, what is the world coming to!
Crikey this week has disappeared in the blink of an eye - crazy stuff. OK let's think
Grateful for an easy journey home last Friday, we were out of the holiday cottage and on our way for 9.30am and didn't come across any major traffic on our way back home (a few numpties however) we were grateful to land back home just before midday!
Grateful for the weather staying dry to enable me to sort out the washing (of which there was more than enough if I'm honest). Out on the line, a quick tumble and away it went.
I'm also grateful for a fabulous evening on Saturday night when my sister and niece came to stay. It was so lovely to catch up, my sister has started a job recently which involves some incredibly long shifts so it seemed to be an age since we last had a catch up. The down side was a late night when we had a very early morning planned!
Sunday brought our annual visit to Chatsworth's Country Fayre, we've been to this for the last few years and for me it marks the end of the summer holidays as well as the shift into autumn. We were blessed with a fabulous day's weather.
We watched the mounted games for an hour in the morning, these people are crazy racing up and down jumping on and off the horses!
We love to support the Yorkshire team when we are there (despite being in Derbyshire LOL).
We got to see the Jump for Heroes too!
Me and little sis being spied at the liquer stall by hubby, we couldn't work out whether morello cherry or apricot was the best!
We also got to see a hurricane, spitfire fly past too!
And we all enjoyed our day - although it looks as though my sister enjoyed it most!

As the stalls were closing up we made our way back to the car to have our very late picnic (we'd managed to survive on the umpteen bacon butties that we'd taken to eat on our arrival - and yes they were still warm, wrapped in foil. wrapped in tea towels, inside an insulating bag!
As we finished the day with a picnic we got to see the hot air balloons taking off!
A really good day - completely shattered mind at the end of it. We travelled home and landed back about 8pm (having been up since about 6.30am). Same time next year Chatsworth?
Monday arrived and I'd taken the sensible precaution of booking a couple of days off. So Monday's grateful was the school uniform shop. Now yes I can hear you groaning but it worked like a dream. Into town hubby dropped us near the shop, straight in 2 jumpers purchased in right size and right colours - sorted! Then down to Meadowhall straight into Clarks, second in the queue, 3 pairs to choose from and he actually only liked one of the pairs, tried on fitted - sorted. Trainers looked as though they were going to be a bigger pain as Clarks didn't have his size. But after one false start we headed to Sports Direct, one pair of 8.5 Nike trainers - first ones I laid my hands on - sorted!
A visit to see my Mum on Monday was lovely too, caught up with her as hadn't managed it over the weekend.
Tuesday was a day just for me and said 13 year old and ended up with two trips to the Doctors. The first for me (I went with a list) and the second for said 13 year old. Saw the same Doctor both times and got things sorted - so my grateful is for getting an appointment and for a Doctor who actually listens - yay!
Wednesday's grateful was a speedy day at work (work isn't always speedy on your first day back in but mine was). Said 13 year old had a good day too which was a positive and was quite happy to tell us all about his day when he got home.
Thursday was another busy day at work got home relatively early so made a new recipe out of the Slimming World magazine which was stuffed peppers - really tasty, made it with a chilli and salad and some sweet potato fries - I was hungry LOL!
Wow that was a busy week, I honestly thought this morning that the week would be summarised in a few bullet points as I thought it was a dig deep week - nope not dig deep at all - pretty blinking good even if I do say so myself.

Good morning lovely people 4th layout from me, believe it or not this one came about after I'd done four layouts already and all I had left were scraps - I know crazy right.
First of all I stamped a little bit of the background blue card stock, which I had added to the kit. Then I added some shaped edges, I gutted the papers to get the most out of them. I added a doily and a bit of washi tape to the layout too.

I then punched the tag, hand stitched on a couple of wooden buttons I had lying around and the sticker with the word fun on and finished off the layout. Sometimes when you think you have little left in a kit that's when the kits come into their own!

Hello lovely people well this is the third layout I achieved from the Wear Crafts 12 Pledges kit, these papers are gorgeous, I love love love the colour combinations, I changed the tempo of this one slightly, opting for the subtle browns that are part of this fantastic double sided paper kit!
The photo is hubby scaling up some chalky rocks to put our stone that we'd put our initials on safe and sound. He didn't realise how far he'd gone until he saw the photo afterwards.
I border punched the outside and whilst the corners aren't perfect I like how quirky they look!
Stamped some white cardstock as a base. Added the Sunshine element to the page after hand stitching it. A bit of washi tape I had lying around and a couple of shiny brads. The journal square is actually a negative leftover element from a sticker sheet I got from Jen at Wear Crafts.

Morning all well layout number two from me for the 12 Pledges kit for August from Jen at Wear Crafts.
Ink sprayed and stamped background to get me started, a cut blue border (gutted from layout one that I shared with you yesterday). Adding components parts from the kit, punched tag and a piece of sea wave paper mounted on foam dots.
I attached the twine with a little bit of glossy accents and all was complete - fab stuff and good fun!
