ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 20TH OF 2025

Morning all it's Friday time to clock the positive moments and silver linings as it is

So this is a bit of a catch up post, as last week we were away in Rhodes for a 9 day holiday which was lovely.  We returned to the hotel we went to last September as it was lovely and as we know the island quite well there was no need to go racing around trying to see everything before we came home.

We flew out on the Friday (2nd May) and arrived late evening and checked in without a hassle, the flight over was good.  The weather had looked potentially changeable but other than one cloudy morning the rest of the week was glorious, not too hot around the early to mid-twenties, perfect for me and hubby and with the glorious breeze off the Aegean sea an absolute winner if I'm honest.

This was the view out of the plane window

This was the second evening but whilst there was evening cloud the day was glorious

A selfie whilst we had a drink before evening meal

and the sunset the following night was spectacular

I enjoyed a simple breakfast each morning, 5 small pancakes, fresh oranges that we saw growing on the trees around the island and occasionally the filo custard pastry which was naughty.

The view from the sunbeds was always beautiful

We went into Rhodes old town twice.

The first time we spent time walking around the harbour admiring the boats.

This shows the entrance to the harbour where the Colossus of Rhodes allegedly once stood

to the windmills which we've never walked to before

They really were stunning

Huge cruise liners visiting the town

The medieval walled town

Inside the gorgeous church in the harbour

Blogger is misbehaving and doing things out of order, hubby enjoyed stone stacking again

The evenings were lovely and as you can see I picked up some colour from the sun

The pirate ship enjoying the sunset

Which I'll be honest I couldn't blame them for (this was our hotel room view)

Beautiful Greek shots as we wandered the old town on the second occasion

The flowers on this plant were huge

I loved the colourful steps

Another selfie

The desserts always get me (sweet tooth) but honestly most of the time I was trying to work out what they were.

I enjoyed mocktails, hubby had asked the the lady behind the bar if she could make them more interesting for me, which was lovely of her. Mine is the sunset cooler on the left, hubby was enjoying an alcoholic mojito.

We enjoyed reading (the kindles were an amazing addition to the holiday).  We loved chatting and generally just relaxing and I came back feeling so much better in myself (despite the weight gain, but as hubby pointed out I'd put it on quick and it seems to be disappearing as fast which is great).

Thankfully my colleague at work had suggested I take an extra day of leave on Monday and I'm so glad I did as I was utterly shattered if I'm honest.  It also gave me chance to get top side of the washing, thankfully the weather was lovely when we got home and I was able to get it all done and dry on Monday with one final load on Tuesday which hubby sorted.

I worked Tuesday and Wednesday which were a little heavy going after the relaxing week away, but I had a lot of work to catch up on.

We had a thorough clean through on Wednesday night so we could enjoy our time off together.

Then today I've enjoyed the day catching up with my sister we met in Ikea for a cuppa and then had a wander around, hubby was up to no good - apparently this is a Shakespeare quote

or

'To be or not to be' LOL

My sister was trying out all the baskets that she thought were 'witchy' and had us in hysterics and then we enjoyed a meal which was naughty, but has meant that we didn't need to come home and cook so a win win in my book.

I hope you've had a lovely week and that you too have had some silver linings and positive moments to enjoy.

Hugs

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 44TH OF 2024

Morning all tis Friday time for

I hope you've all had a good week, I'm getting back into the flow of work again.  Last Friday I had a blood test taken as I've been suffering with anaemia the results are showing the additional iron tablets are helping, so that is definitely a positive for the week.

Hubby enjoyed baking on Friday.

He made these beautiful hazelnut and cranberry biscotti

He made a fresh batch of mince pies with his homemade mincemeat which were stunning

Saturday and we met my sister to go to Ikea as she was wanting to pick up a new table but wasn't sure it would fit in her car, this is hubby 62 year's young still being mischievous with the trolley that he used more like a scooter

Saturday, me and hubby went to see the play 'Art' at the Lyceum in Sheffield, it is a strange play and whilst some explain it is a laugh out loud raucous comedy, it didn't quite hit the mark for us, it was only on researching it afterwards that we realised that it is a play translated from French, maybe it is funnier in its original language, nevertheless despite its overall strangeness we both thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sunday and we headed to the local garden centre, to meet my long time friend Jude's daughter, who I have never met before, it is so strange meeting someone you know through social media, but have never met in person.  It was so lovely to meet her, we went and drank tea and put the world to rights before having a wander around the garden centre, hubby, my sister, son and daughter in law joined us so it was a full family jaunt out.  We also enjoyed all the stunning homeware and the beautiful Christmas decorations, the only negative from the afternoon was the fact that we forgot to get a photograph, honestly I don't know how I do it sometimes!

Monday and back into work, Tuesday was a crazy long day, as I came home and carried on as I had some work to do on the audit.

Wednesday night and me and hubby went to see a local youth theatre group perform 'Rock of Ages' it was a strange choice, given the drug references, not to mention the sex references and the strip club and whilst we enjoyed it some of the youngsters didn't quite hit all the notes if that makes sense, I actually wouldn't mind seeing it again as a professional production to see what that's like.

Thursday we went to help my sister, she had some DIY tasks that needed doing and as usual my hubby got volunteered to do them.

I hope you've had a grand week.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 45TH OF 2023

Morning lovely people tis Friday time for

Well it has been another strange week of it, it has to be said.  I'm going to try to find the silver linings again this week, as always and as I've said before sometimes this can prove easier than at other times.

We enjoyed Fika time at Ikea when we went for a wander around, me and hubby had a dessert and then were very naughty and shared their new tiramisu dessert which was quite pleasant.

Over the weekend, I enjoyed having some crafting time and made some birthday cards to replenish stocks.  I'd bought some papers that all matched so no need to have to engage my brain on the design (if that makes sense), hubby in the meantime was having a play with some Christmas decorations.

We also enjoyed our first fire of the year as well, it was lovely to cuddle up on the sofa.

Now the tougher parts of the week, my cousin who is only 42 had a heart attack at the weekend, which as you can imagine has come as an enormous shock, he is currently in intensive care and we genuinely don't know what will happen moving forward, so can you keep him in your thoughts this week it has really hit home to all the cousins and was so very unexpected.

Then on Tuesday hubby started with chest pains, my grateful on this was a work colleague who got him to the hospital quickly, said 23 year old for rescuing me from work when I genuinely broke down so upset, the hospital seeing him so quickly and the result being no heart attack, however, they have identified a bloody pressure issue, so he is now on a diet to reduce weight to try and bring it down without tablets.  We will see how quickly he can move it.

My other grateful moments have been my lovely Mum, her love and care this last few weeks have been so important to me.  My sister for talking sense to me and said 23 year old for just being him even though he too is having a bit of a tough time at the moment.

I hope you've had a lovely week and hopefully next week I will have some better news.

Much love

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 37TH OF 2023

Good morning lovely people tis Friday time for

Friday and my first day off of the week, last week had been particularly mad and crazy so it was nice to stop.  We dropped our main car off for the MOT which is always a fingers crossed type activity.

I forgot to share the wreath on the door that I did the other week, the base is the one I've been using all year but I added a bit of autumn colour and put the summer flowers away for now.

We then headed off to Ikea, but we were very early so went for a coffee at McDonalds which was lovely before meeting up with my Mum and sister.  We enjoyed a breakfast together and put the world to rights before we headed off for a wander around the store.  My Mum had me in hysterics as she just kept arriving with new items to add to the basket.

It was lovely to have a proper catch up with my Mum and sister.

We headed home and watched the first rugby match of the world cup.

Saturday dawned and because we are insane, despite the heat we headed over to said 22 year old and d-in-law's to carry on wallpapering the stairs.

We continued albeit at the bottom of the stairs rather than the landing (they both need doing) over a couple of hours with lots of additional paste (it was drying faster than we could get it on the walls), we managed to get the papering at the bottom of the stairs done, leaving only the landing area to resolve.

Sunday was another overly warm day so we pottered around the house during the morning, some rugby watching later in the day and watched Fast X in the afternoon, hubby was disappointed that it was a 2 part film and that we have to wait until 2025 to see the conclusion!

Monday arrived and blink and we were at Wednesday work being a little crazy mad at the moment it has to be said.

Wednesday also marked my birthday albeit that I was working.  However in the evening family descended for a few hours which definitely made it more birthday like we drank tea, talked til we were hoarse and then they disappeared again.  A lovely birthday, I got lots of treats, new cardstock the Harry Potter advent calendar, a make up brush some Christmas reads, an anti-fatigue mat for my desk, a make your own gonk, all in all a fab birthday with some really thoughtful gifts and lots and lots of flowers.

Thursday and said 22 year old officially became said 23 year old but I'm fairly sure I've called him said 23 year old earlier in the year in my' 2023 he is 23 brain'.

I thought I'd share an official photo from the wedding, genuinely the look of love makes my heart sing.

I hope you've had a great week too.

Rocking Your World Friday 4th of 2020

Good morning lovely people tis Friday time for

So what have I been up to this week, what silver linings, grateful moments have I got.

First up is spending a lot of time with family last weekend, my lil sis is having a tough time at the moment and so it is at time like this that we remember what is important and pull everyone is little bit closer.

So we met up at Ikea and put the world to rights which was good, I'm not sure what we achieved but it was nice to touch base.

I captured this little shot when my Mum decided to reapply a bit of lippy with no mirror, it didn't go swimmingly so my lil sis sorted her out and I was there to capture the moment - she makes me laugh sometimes and this was one of those moments.

Then after I got home my sister popped over with my niece who I hadn't seen in a while and who is heading back to university shortly so it was lovely to have a catch up with her.

Saturday was a catch up with jobs day, food shop, cleaning the house the usual boring things, but it always feels nicer once its done so that was a win win and hubby was there to help so a definite positive.

Sunday we decided to head out for a walk, my sister came too and we enjoyed some wintery sunshine including a stop off at the pub for a coffee at the midway point.

Monday soon arrived and things have been hectic with a capital H at work recently, so I've tried to balance the crazy days with some therapeutic nights, namely scrapbooking.

I hardly did any last year, but one of my resolutions was to get back into it.  I file all my layouts chronologically and I am literally years out of date I'm currently trying to finish 2016 (yes I am officially that far behind).

I am getting there and have less than 10 layouts to do (I think) to complete the year and then I will take great pleasure in filing them away and then starting on the 2017 photos that I have yet to do.  I will also need to put a photo order in at some point which should be grand as I will have new photos to play with, although I really need to cut down on the volume I order as it would be impossible to scrap every single one.

My aim is to try and get to the end of 2017 by Easter - wish me luck!

Anyway the rest of the positives this week

Hubby buying me beautiful flowers and putting them in the vase (when I refused to move from the sofa as I was shattered).

Said 19 year old hoovering through the entire house as I made tea last night.

Said 19 year old getting a "high 2.1" in his first semester at university - and even though it is his first year, this all counts towards his final grade.

Woodburning stove when me and hubby are home alone and it seems silly to heat the whole house.

Hiking boots for keeping me just about upright last week.

And that my lovely people is your lot.

I hope you've had a grand week, if you fancy joining in pop a post together come back and link up and we come and visit.
