ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 46TH OF 2024

 Morning all 'tis Friday time to clock those silver linings, positive moments et al as it is 

So last Friday slow start to the day if I'm honest as I'd done work for the previous 4 days, my lovely future nephew-in-law offered up some free ice hockey match tickets which was so lovely of him and he said he would see what he could get. 

We had a tootle out to the shops, looking for frames if I'm honest, I did manage to find some, just need the time to now turn them into a Christmas gift. 

We had a quiet night in on Friday and chilled in front of the fire, doing my favourite past time of book reading. 

Saturday and we had a ballet booked at the Lyceum in Sheffield. It was myself, hubby and my sister. 

I've been to one before but my hubby never has, so the motivation was the fact it was a first.  This is the view from our seats, there was a screen in front of the stage at the beginning with digital snow falling - incredibly atmospheric.

It was 30 minutes then a 20 minute interval 30 minutes and another 20 minute interval and then 30 minutes.  I was once again mesmerised by the sheer strength of the dancers and the costumes and the way the story was portrayed was fantastic, but hubby said "I like words" which means this may be his one and only ballet.  But I enjoyed it nevertheless and fun to see another interpretation of a Christmas Carol.

We came home genuinely not fancying cooking, we'd took out a chilli we had frozen a few weeks ago, we both toyed with take away and 'easy tea' from the supermarket, but to be honest we just came home.  We warmed the chilli, put it into flour tortillas, covered with the remaining sauce, sprinkled cheese and put it in the air fryer.  In the meantime I did some little tiny jacket pots and we had a sprinkle of cheese on them, one of the tastiest teas we've had in some time and we very nearly didn't have it! 

Sunday morning and we headed out with my sister to a local Christmas craft fair.  This is normally held inside but they are currently renovating the building so the stalls were outside, thankfully it was dry albeit cold.  We enjoyed the wander around the stalls and my sister treated herself to a crumble from the crumble stall, the only other place she has seen one is York and on the few occasions she has been they haven't been open.  She opted for the cherry filling, then liberal amounts of crumble topping, hot custard and a crushed biscoff biscuit on top and as you can see she thoroughly enjoyed it. 

Then in the afternoon I had decided that I wanted some down time on my own which meant I sent hubby, son, daughter in law and sister to the ice hockey, whilst I enjoyed some quiet time at home on my own, it might seem strange but it doesn't happen often and I felt I needed to try and reconnect with myself mentally.

Monday appeared as if by magic, I had some online training and then blink and Monday through to Wednesday turned into some very busy and some very long days. 

And then I find myself at Thursday again.

Rocking Your World Friday - 8th of 2019

Good morning lovely people, time to celebrate the positive moments and silver linings in our week as it is time for

First up a lovely celebratory meal out with my Mum last Friday 

We went to a place we haven't visited before and had a fantastic night out, really lovely company and really lovely food!  

I managed to get a shot of the two birthday people

Said 18 year old and his girlfriend were there but next to me so I didn't manage a photo of them, must try harder!

Saturday saw us venturing out to catch up with lil bro and co

I took two dreadful pictures, but still managed to document the catch up - sort of nearly almost

Sunday we had an invite to a family Christening, it was such a lovely celebration and I'm really glad I went as I managed to catch up with cousins my Aunty and Uncle

The service was lovely and the do afterwards was in a really beautiful venue.

Monday saw me catching up with an old work colleague it must be a year since we saw one another, but it is always good to have a catch up and a proper natter and put the world to rights. 

Tuesday I went to town with Mum to have another proper catch up, we sat drinking coffee at a lovely Italian on the High Street, then had a wander before ending back at the same place for a bite to eat for lunch.  It was really good to catch up. 

As I've been off this week (and hubby hasn't) I've also managed to find some crafting time, which is always good for the soul, mind you I was mighty rusty to begin with, but soon got into my stride. 

I did loads of scrapbook layouts including our first art journal weekend at the local craft shop with Kate Crane, said 18 year old did insist on going off at a tangent, whenever Kate suggested we don't do something he had to experiment to find out why - I don't know who he takes after! 

Then Wednesday night we got cheap as chip tickets for an ice hockey match, it was a grand night out but pretty poor score board at the end of the night.  We enjoyed it nonetheless.

And that lovely people brings me to today, which is Thursday, I'm preparing my post in advance as I have a lot to sort tomorrow and didn't want it being its usual late self, it's amazing what you can get done when you have time for yourself!

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY 13TH OF 2016

Good morning lovely people, tis Friday - so what's 

First up this fab photo of my Mum from her meeting last week she has officially lost 1 stone in weight and feeling (and looking) so much better for it!  Way to go Mammy!

Next up a crafting afternoon on Saturday - this is what it looked like at our house - a rather bemused husband if I'm honest!  Wearing gloves and enjoying working with Powertex 

And this is said 15 year old - spending time in the same environment as us, but on his tablet - but making himself comfy - it doesn't look that comfortable to me, but it did make me smile! 

A night out at the ice hockey watching Sheffield Steelers beat Nottingham Panthers - fabulous game, great atmosphere and the arena was pretty much full to bursting! 

Here are some of the items we were making with the Powertex, working with fabric, paper flowers, polystyrene pieces etc.

And hubby putting an empty wine bottle to good use!

And some of the detail up close and yes we did powertex the skeletal leaves and yes they are still incredibly delicate!

Using the fabulous template from A Trip Down memory Lane for a mini book - it is almost complete and I'm really liking it.

This is the outer cover, I decided against the fastener (as I didn't have any elastic or hair bands that would suffice).

Inside you will see I was brave and got the machine out for the pockets on the left as per the original instructions - first time I've machine stitched on paper.  

You can see the different sized tags inside each pocket.

Then the top and bottom flap opened 

And then the piece on the right opened out, once again i used the machine to sew the middle 'booklet' as it were. 

I loved the papers and the background, the original instructions ask for cardstock 12.5" wide for the spine which would potentially be a problem with standard scrapbook card stock, I actually had some A3 card which I used to create the book and I may scale it down so it works with 12 x 12 in future. 

A good week generally at work, busy busy preparing for year end but nothing new and now I can stop for a little bit.

OH I DO LOVE TO CRAFT SO IS THIS THE RETURN OF MY MOJO?

Good morning everyone, after what feels like weeks of craftless days whilst I've been deep cleaning the house, I've made three minibooks in two days, does that mean my mojo is returning?  Anyone with previous experience of this phenomenon please leave me precise ways of retaining the mojo without stressing it out so that it abandons me again.  In the meantime I'll share some pre-mojo crafting with you.

Both of these layouts are from a weekend of Ice Hockey that we got to enjoy around Valentines day this year, little sis got some cheaper tickets and we went along to enjoy the atmosphere, it's been years since we went to an Ice Hockey game and much fun was had by all.

The first night the team were in their Valentine's shirts (which looked like black suits and white shirt with red ties up close)

And the second night they were back to their normal attire, hence how I managed to squeeze not one but two layouts out of these evenings.

The piccies were taken on a mobile phone so not brilliant quality (we have old phones) but fun none the less!  Wonder if we'll manage a few more games when the season starts again?
