Good morning, tis Friday time for
So how was the week, overall good, very busy as work is a little crazy at the moment, but in all honesty I prefer it that way than too laid back and boring.
I thought I'd share a couple of photos from the previous week that I didn't include last week. This one had me giggling, yes that is said 19 year old on his birthday building lego.
I honestly thought my Lego building days were over, until they brought out the Central Perk Friends set from the TV show. Obviously it took him no time at all to build but it really was a blast from the past and I really enjoyed wandering the Lego shop in all honesty. I don't think you can ever be too old for Lego do you?
Next up last Friday, well we had a lovely day, we needed our main trip boat to be up at the Sheffield Quays for the Waterfront Festival. From where we are based and due to the speed in which the boat goes and the number of locks we needed to traverse we set off at 8am. I asked my Mum if she fancied coming as she'd volunteered to help me at the festival on Saturday, so this was a lovely way to spend some quality time with her and enjoy a brilliant boat trip at the same time.
Here are a few pictures from our journey
We enjoyed some blue skies and fabulous reflections on the way up
It was so strange being on the boat and so near the M1 and yet all was quiet all around us with kingfishers swooping along the top of the water.
We even managed a sunny selfie
I enjoyed spotting the graffiti art on the way down, some of which has been commissioned by the Canal and River Trust
My boys putting their backs into it (literally), most of the locks near work are now the electric ones with the turn of the key and the press of a button they operate. However, the flight up to Sheffield (which is 11 locks in total) are all manual ones, so the volunteers had great fun operating them.
Hubby even stopped to pose (actually I don't think he knew I was taking photos).
It strange being somewhere so tranquil in the middle of a city
But was really lovely
Our attendance at the waterfront festival also marked the end of a summer project for some of our young people. They had been a self managed group who were bringing heritage and art and infusing it to create sculptures for the festival that we could display on the boat.
This is what they created.
On Saturday we made our way up to the boat via tram and spent the day talking to people about the work that we do. We displayed the sculptures on top of the boat, they were a real talking point.
And brought lots of people to come and see us
And we enjoyed another blue skies day
On Sunday me and my Mum had another day down at the local craft shop making a mini book. We had a fantastic day creating together and enjoyed spending another day together. I'll share photos of what we made next week as I've yet to upload them.
Other positives this week
Hubby bought me some beautiful flowers
And I enjoyed the morning sky as I stood putting my make up on ready for work.
Overall a brilliant week was had. I hope you had a grand week, if you fancy joining in pop a post together, pop back and link up and we can come and visit.
The Lego had me giggling. I love Lego and my sister and I had loads of it as children. But in them days we had to build everything from scratch. No sets. We had all sorts of building blocks, windows and roof tiles and even wheels. My dad made two boxes with partitions so we could keep all the 'bits' separately. Happy memories....
ReplyDeleteThe roses are absolutely beautiful! You have a good man there.
I enjoyed seeing the photos of the boat trip. Was that the M1 you went underneath then? Yes, it's unimaginable that it can be so peaceful, so near the city and the traffic.
Your mum looks great. Give her my love. (I think of her every time I see Valencia)
Have a lovely weekend,
Hugs,
Lisca
I love the photos from the trip on the boat - as you say, beautiful reflections, and the bridge makes a great shape. What a lovely way to spend time with your mum. Have a fab weekend.
ReplyDeleteYour boat trip sound lovely. I had that same feeling of tranquility in a busy city when I walk around Ben's estate. It is a long time since we did a canal trip though and the locks would be hard work for me now.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as though the waterfront festival was a great success. The sculptures certainly caught the eye.
I had to smile at your son building with Lego. My Tom is 36 now, and just a couple of years ago when he was commuting regularly between UK and Denmark, he spent a lot of time in Danish hotels, and he was so excited when they sent him to the Lego hotel and every room had a big box of Lego bricks in it for the clients to 'play' with. Hope you have another fun week. Kate x
