ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 19TH OF 2022

 Good morning tis Friday time for

so this is the second half of the week we had away (that I didn't document fully last week) because as suspected the weekend was very much a rest and relaxation (and washing). 

So we had a day out in Skipton, I've never been so it was lovely to explore and it is such a pretty town.  We had a good wander around the castle

I loved the inner courtyard and the tree that was planted when the square was created making the tree 361 years old

It is a male yew tree and really is stunning

It reminded me of a square in foreign lands if truth be told

Then we went in the church next door, I loved this stained glass window

then we had a picnic by the boats

The day after we went to Mother Shipton's cave

The wishing well where we made a wish or two

The cave where Mother Shipton was born

The museum (and the main reason for visiting) was to see Mister Finch's items 

Final day and we headed to Haworth to the Bronte Parsonage

then popped off to see the Panopticon on the way (unfortunately the central sphere had been damaged by vandals and wasn't there so we didn't get the full experience). 

Then Pendle Heritage Centre, the most interesting part being linked with the Pendle Witch trials. 

and before we knew it we had finished our week and were heading home.

The weekend as suspected was quiet and busy with washing. 

We caught up with said 21 year old and his fiancee on Friday and my Mum and my sister. 

Saturday we were washing washing washing all day and then went out to see How to be a Better Human, it was very good but made me very sad as it is about grief and loss, we went with my Mum and hubby. 

Sunday we decided to help my Mum with her garden, which meant a large number of hours cutting grass and the privet hedge which was growing out of hand as well as getting rid of some of the ivy that was matting itself on the ground we recovered a fair amount of pavement. 

The rest of the week has been about getting back in the grove with work.

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 18TH OF 2022

 Good morning, tis Friday time for

Well we've just arrived back from a lovely week away in Lancashire, I'm going to share half of the week this week and the rest next week, because I have a feeling that this weekend is going to be one of rest and recovery. 

First up the route the satnat took us gave us some spectacular views which I'm eternally grateful for, it made for a picturesque journey

Our first day out we went to Pendle Arts Trail in the shadow of Pendle Hill itself, we had great fun exploring and finding various art pieces (although we didn't find the boggart).

On our way around we also came across a metal sculpture documenting the pendle witches

and on our way back, stopped to photograph this statue of Alice Nutter, one of the Pendle witches

The second day we were off to enjoy Saltaire's Art Trail - it didn't disappoint.  The gallery itself hadn't changed much, although we did see a new David Hockney but weren't allowed to photograph it.  

I did come across this amazing ceramic work though, originally done for the Bradford and Bingley building society. 

On Monday we set out to hit three places in a day but managed four. 

The first was Stump Cross Caverns, unlike any other cave system we've been in before they were very pretty and we enjoyed our visit immensely

The formations were stunning

and they'd lit it really well in places

Then we ventured on to Coldstone Cutts, which we have visited before

although this was a new addition to the hillside since our last visit and yes they are tractor wheels!

Coldstone is a land art piece which gives you a view of the countryside around as well as the quarry that is still working below. 

Our main place to visit was St Mary's Church at Studley Royal, because every other time we've visited it has been closed.  Alas the main part of the church we wanted to see up close was the chancel designed by William Burges, but unfortunately the delicate mosaic flooring meant we could only see from afar, however I'm sure you will see why we wanted to visit. 

The church itself was beautiful from the outside too

We then decided after a picnic, to head into Fountains Abbey itself, which we hadn't planned to do but we were there so it seemed silly not to enjoy it. 

We came across 3 art exhibitions the first, tree prints

the second in the mill 

were some amazing photographs of the site

and finally (and possibly my favourite as it was quirky) was the headphone tree, where headphones had been attached for you to listen to the noise of the tree - it really was amazing. 

We wandered the ruined abbey

and although it had been an immensely busy day, we really enjoyed it. 

Now I'm going to save the rest for next week.
