ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 6TH OF 2025

Morning all tis Friday time to spot the positive moments, silver linings and the things that made us smile in the last 7 days, time for

So last Friday, I had a lovely catch up with my friend that I hadn't seen in an absolute age it was good to touch base with her.

Enjoyed book reading and with the six nations being on this meant I could do a little more scrapbooking. Layouts completed recently going back to early 2023.

This one was a hard one to do, just before my Mum had her hair shaved off due to her second lot of chemo and her hair was coming out by the handful, but she was determined to be around for her grandson's wedding and so despite saying she wouldn't do chemo against she endured.

What my Mum loved the most, family around her kitchen table

Family celebrations for birthdays.

On Saturday we headed to York for their annual ice trail, me, hubby and my sister, we had a lovely day running around the city looking for the sculptures.

Here are just a few of the 30 sculptures this year

I loved the bell with a bell on top

We stopped to look at the sculptures next to the Minster that are being made and had to giggle at the 'hidden' face on this one, my sister spotted it first and literally laughed out loud.

This was my favourite, they always make a stunning job of this jeweller's shop

This one was fun

and a photo of me and my sister on the Paddington bench

We stopped twice for refreshments, the first time we had a pistachio mousse and chocolate cake which was lovely.

and we had a second stop for a cuppa which was very much needed.

We managed to find 29 of the 30 sculptures, one we think had been moved from its intended place.  We also enjoyed a wander around some of the shops.  A fun family trip out and 17000 steps on my Fitbit

Sunday was as you can imagine a day of rest, we enjoyed watching Maverick and I started to catch up on the Great Pottery throw down, I've loved all of the challenges up to now.

Monday and back to work, but I was grateful I was working from home as it meant that I got a fair amount done.  I caught up with some of my family online in the evening and I booked a wreath class for me and my sister.

Tuesday is the day I really struggle it is in effect my Wednesday but after a long working day on a Monday due to compressed hours, by the time I get home on a Tuesday there isn't a lot left, so I was grateful for a quick tasty tea.  We also managed to pop out and pick a few bits up from Ikea and stopped for a cuppa and a muffin.

Wednesday was my last work day of the week, a very busy day and lots of deadlines, but achieved them all just in the nick of time so we will take that as a win.

Thursday, slow start as no alarm clocks, caught up on the washing and the sun was shining, I know it is cold out but seeing a bit of sunshine in my books is good for the soul.

I hope you've all had a lovely week.

Hugs

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 6TH OF 2024

Morning all tis Friday time for

Last Friday we headed up to the hospital for the ultrasound scan for hubby, he was also due to have a biopsy but they initially decided against that but have since changed their minds, so please keep him in your thoughts for a positive outcome so we are returning today for that.

We had a quiet day around the house on Saturday, we decided to head to York on Sunday as my sister who was on annual leave could come too.  The annual ice trail was on around the city, this year 33 ice sculptures to find, unfortunately the weather was against us but we enjoyed it nonetheless.

This is a selection of the ice sculptures we got to see, from Willy Wonka

and his golden ticket

to the hat of dreams outside The Grand hotel

A crown throne opposite the train station

and dragon and trailer at the Judges' lodgings

I always love the one outside the jeweller, there was a robin on holly leaves inside the egg

The weather got worse late morning, so we took refuge in a café and enjoyed hot drinks and drying out for a while.

We continued on but by the time we got to Spark things were genuinely starting to melt considerably

and by the time we reached the Yeti, we decided it was time to take stock and start to head back, we managed 30 of the 33 and were all well over 15,000 steps for the day so a win win in my book.

We enjoyed facetime family chat on Monday catching up with everyone, my Mum had had her first visit from the nurse so she was feeling a bit more comfortable.

Hubby and I have been doing lots of talking, chatting and engaging with each other which has been positive, we've started to do a daily walk which is good.

Thursday the day turned decidedly wintry unfortunately, we headed out for a walk

The village was very pretty although the roads were quite difficult to pass by the time we headed home.

We grabbed a snowy selfie

The fields were covered

We got back and spent some time in the craft room, hubby enjoying silversmithing and I was doing some scrapbooking.

I hope you've had a good week, please keep fingers and toes crossed we can get to the hospital appointment tomorrow.

Have a great weekend and week ahead.

Hugs

Rocking Your World Friday - 6th of 2020

Good morning tis Friday time for

So last Friday I had a lovely catch up with my sister, she has been having a rough time of it recently and so it was good to catch up and put the world to rights.  She is making progress albeit very slowly.

Saturday found us up and out of bed early as we had planned to head to York for their Ice Trail which was held over the weekend.  Unlike last year when we had had a touch of snow and were still suffering an amount of ice, this years was very windy and warm and obviously warm isn't something that you want for ice sculptures.  However, we got up their early and set too with the trail, slightly fewer this year than last year but still 40 to find spread all over the city.

The level of detail always amazes me, such skill.  We had a lovely day together and by the time we'd finished the trail we had clocked in excess of 19,000 steps on my fitbit, so we went home happy but exhausted.

My favourite sculptures from the day were probably the one that encased the white rose, which was stunning and Luna Lovegood's spectacles (from Harry Potter) outside an optician.

This was the first one we found

Grouch was definitely melting fast, his bin was full of water

The rose

The city was buzzing at the end of the trail and we headed to the Castle Museum cafe when we came fully circle to our starting point, a bowl of leek and potato soup followed by a cup of tea were very welcome as you can imagine.

We then decided (as we'd done the trail at a fair old pace) to head back and have a wander up and down the Shambles in York.  Obviously the Shambles is famous throughout the world but it definitely makes me giggle these days there are more and more shops selling all things Harry Potter that it has a real feel of Diagon Alley these days, including a new potions shop where you can get a hot chocolate with a chocolate frog on top.

It was busy as always

Our last stopping point had ice sculptures and this fabulous Gryffindor flag

We also came across a couple supporting their artist son and selling his prints, he trained as an architect but is now an artist and sells the most amazing prints/cards/coasters etc with a different take on a cityscape here is the link if fancy a look.  Needless to say I bought some of the cards as I'm still filling in gaps on the stairs, so will be on the look out for frames in the next couple of weeks.

We started the trail at Clifford's tower, always a site to behold in the middle of such an iconic city.

Ended up on the edge of the river admiring the apartments across the way in the all mill building.

And found this on our travels - it reminded us of Saltaire.

Sunday was apparently a day of rest after our epic walk on Saturday, but to be honest we spent so long preparing foodstuffs for Sunday and the rest of the week, it didn't feel like we had too much time on our hands.  Hubby watched the rugby, catching up on the two games from Saturday and watching the England match live, he was frustrated with the England match to say the very least, but with final places at the Rugby world Cup, the issue with the Saracens pay cap and relegation and the supporters expectations it was obviously too much for them.  All I can say is thank goodness for Johnny May.

I've thoroughly enjoyed getting back into my scrapbooking recently, I'm churning layouts out at a merry old pace, having completed 2016 photos, I'm now ploughing on at a good rate of pace with 2017 photos, once they are done (and there are about 80 that need doing), I will set too on the 2018 photos and have the task of starting to sort the photos from that year, when I let everything go to pot and didn't sort my photo folders out.  More fool me for causing this issue if I'm honest, because it is going to take some sorting.  However on the plus side I will be happy to get everything ship shape on that front, being one of my new year resolutions, I do actually feel like I'm making good progress, so go me.

Other positives this week, my gorgeous flowers that I picked up at the beginning of the week, hubby helping with an epic food shop.  Volunteers to help empty my Mum-in-laws house as we need to get it on the market and it isn't going to empty itself!

And that my lovely people is my lot from this week, I hope you've had a grand week, if you fancy joining in pop a post together come back and link up and we can come and visit.
