ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 36TH OF 2026

Good Morning lovely people tis Friday time for

So last weekend I finally finished some layouts, I've been dragging my feet with these, because they are the ones with the last photos of my Mum before she past away and to be honest I still am struggling with the idea that she won't be on future ones (I scrapbook chronologically) but they are done

After our busy day cleaning the TV room last Thursday followed by the deep clean on the kitchen on Friday and Saturday and hubby building bookcases to house our more than ample collection of books (unofficially a library as it exceeds 1000 books) we decided to head out to Wentworth Woodhouse on Sunday.  We spotted one of the Pride of Lions at the front, which had a strange pattern until we realised it was

based on the floor in the marble ballroom

We saw this amazing light installation which had a strobe light effect which made it look like it moved

We also got to see this room, which doesn't look like it did originally, apparently adapted by a film company there are plans to take it back to its original white paint, I've been in the room before when I did a fabric wreath class year's ago.

We also got to see a quilting exhibition, started by a local fabric shop that decided to make quilts for those that had served in the wars and before they knew it it had taken on a momentum of its own.  This one was beautiful

One of the squares up close

some were much more vibrant

We also enjoyed a wander around the garden enjoying the dappled sun and the first signs of autumn

Outside we saw a liquorice allsorts lioness which was the other side of the house

On Monday we ventured to YSP, mainly for a good walk but we also enjoyed the new Annie Montgomerie exhibition, I admire the work immensely but wouldn't want to own one if that makes sense

I did however have a weakness for the Mole and her worm.

Outside I was tree spotting (hubby was blackberry picking)

Tuesday I was working from home and Wednesday I was back in the office with the audit still in full flow.

I was relieved to finish I must be honest.  Thursday and I had to go for a scan at the hospital, hopefully I can make some progress with my follow up appointment in October.  Helen, I hope you are OK with your broken wrist, the idea of it having to be pinned really made me shudder, I hope it has been sorted and that you are now on the mend, I can't imagine trying to work one-handed.

Lisca in answer to your question Aragog is still illusive, I've taken to closing the door at night and wearing my slippers again!

Kate I hope you are good too, thought I'd say hello to my lovely fellow bloggers whilst I had chance.  Have an awesome weekend and week ahead and I will leave you with the cutest picture sent by my daughter-in-law apparently he was just sat chilling enjoying his breakfast and decided this was comfy.

Hugs

ROCKING YOUR WORLD FRIDAY - 45TH OF 2022

Good morning lovely people, tis Friday time for

So last Friday morning we went with said 22 year old to have a look at a 2 bedroomed flat that we'd seen online.  It's strange but just recently we realised that he is ready for the next chapter of his life (and I suppose in turn ours).  As he and his fiancee are getting married next year and have been living out of alternate suitcases every 2 weeks I wondered how they would be able to manage to find somewhere of their own.  Said 22 year old is adamant that he doesn't want to rent as he sees the chance of moving onto the property ladder as almost impossible, so it was essential that he found somewhere that they could live within their means.  Thankfully the property seems to be in a quiet area and although it needs some work, it is pretty much liveable as it is at the moment, added to which it is a two bedroomed property.

Needless to say, he was happy with the property put an offer in and has had it accepted, so it looks like he will be moving onto the next chapter in the next few months.

Then me and hubby travelled down to Stratford upon Avon, this time though not to see Shakespeare but to see A Christmas Carol with Ade Edmondson playing Scrooge.  We had booked to stay overnight in a Premier Inn a stones throw from the theatre.

We got down there earlier than anticipated so had a walk around, as you can see the weather was fine.

We saw some rowers heading out in the boats.

Once we'd checked in we headed out for some tea heading to Cafe Rouge, hubby had burger and I had mussels they were lush.

Then off to the theatre, the play was fantastic but the seats (despite not saying restricted view), genuinely had something of a restricted view because the stage set went back soooooooooo far.  Nevertheless we really enjoyed the retelling of the story.

We had an interval drink, where I noticed this over the bar area, presumably a nod to the balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet.

I took a photo of Mr Tenant which we saw years ago.

After the play we headed back to the hotel and had a great nights sleep.  We had breakfast the following morning and then I told hubby that I'd checked to see if there were any seats available for the matinee performance in a better spot, but there were only two seats one in the stalls and the other in the gods.

However, after breakfast I had one last check and two seats had become available on row B, I genuinely was gobsmacked and showed hubby who told me to book them.

So we didn't see the play once, we saw it twice and you'll be happy to know that the second time meant we got a solid view of the entire stage including quite a bit we had 'missed' the first night.

The downside to this meant that we had to travel home in the dark via A and B roads with rain which wasn't much fun, but we managed it nonetheless.

We were needless to say absolutely shattered when we arrived home, but we were so pleased to have enjoyed the play more than once.

Sunday dawned and we decided a good walk around YSP was in order, we had our usual sausage sandwiches and see the new Annie Montgomerie exhibit which I can't tell if I loved or loathed.

Blogger putting the photos the wrong way around grrr.

This is the highland cow we walked past on our walk.

Past the Sophie Ryder bunny

a lovely autumn view on our path

then the aforementioned exhibition.  This is the vinyl toy that they've produced that you can buy.

then a selection of her creatures, depicted from the times when kids played out on the streets, most characters have a little companion with them and very expressive faces.

Lots of vintage fabrics

and finds go to creating the creatures

predominantly starts as a model

I loved the owl faces and the fuzziness of a baby owl

I also thought the pigeon was fun.

The rest of the week fair tripped along as you can probably imagine, before you know it you are back to Monday and back working but the fun weekend definitely makes up for my crazy work life.

I hope you've had a fabulous week.
