Rocking Your World Friday - 14th of 2019

Good morning lovely people tis Friday time for

The next one was part of the set of selfies that had me giggling afterwards when I looked at the photo as said 18 year old had pulled faces!  As a keen scrapbooker I have always taken a lot of photos and said 18 year old in his younger days sometimes grew tired of this and so we had a spell of him constantly photobombing or face pulling in photos.  I think in a move to deter me somewhat, however it only encouraged me more and so I'm sure this particular picture will eventually find its way onto a scrapbook layout!

Last Friday me and said 18 year old headed to this

Which is a temporary art installation, we waited for in excess of 2 hours to get in and see the exhibition.  Me and hubby are going to re-attempt it later or tomorrow as he still hasn't seen it.  So for now I don't want to provide any 'spoilers' of the exhibition as it closes tomorrow, I will instead share those photos next week.

This was the inside of the courtyard as we waited to see the giants, I was really grateful for the Mum and son time that we got together, we spent those couple of hours chatting and putting the world to rights, it was brilliant!

The exhibition is being held inside an abandoned factory which is set to be partially demolished and converted into dwellings, it won't be possible to remove the giants from the space, I assume hence the name mausoleum!

Saturday we headed down to Elsecar to another heritage sewing class to document the women of Elsecar and Wentworth, both my Mum and sister were there and it was good to have a talk.  We had a lovely few hours, drinking coffee chatting and stitching!

Sunday was Mothering Sunday in the UK and said 18 year old purchased some new flowers for me and later in the day I got a card with an acrylic heart for my heart wall and a heart shaped frame.  Bless him, he worked most of Sunday so I didn't see very much of him.

I did however, pop over to see my Mum which was lovely, she'd baked a fresh Victoria sponge which was lovely, I was naughty and had a slice and no before you ask my slice wasn't the missing portion!

We had a few hours chatting and catching up, hubby popped to see his Mum too and take her gifts and then we headed home to sort tea and before we knew it the weekend was gone.

Monday saw me at the Doctors, as always I'm grateful for our NHS and all those that dedicate that life to the same and then I headed into work for a busy day including a board meeting.

Tuesday saw said 18 year old heading back to Sheffield for an exclusive visit to the Phlegm exhibition (amongst others) that college had arranged (with some significant prods from the students).

You can imagine said 18 year old's absolute delight to not only come across a brand new Phlegm piece, but to also come across the artist himself.  Who was happy to talk to the students and autograph postcards!  I was as you can imagine quite rightly envious!

The rest of the week has been a bit of a blur work wise, it tends to be a bit of a repeating cycle of up, work, home, tea, tidy, sort, bed repeat at the moment, but Mothering Sunday also brought about the clocks going forward so we are now being treated to an extra hour of daylight at the end of the day.  We just need to get out of Winter pyjama time quite so early.

And we find ourselves back at Friday.

I hope you've had a splendid week and if you fancy joining in, then pop a post together, come back and link up and we can come and visit.

What a gorgeous flower you captured there. Is it a lily? Whatever it is. It is beautiful.
I had to smile at Said 18 yr old pulling faces and photo bombing. It will make a very good scrapbook page.
That exhibition sounds really good. I like Phlegm a lot and would recognize his work anywhere now. Lucky you that you could go, and well worth the wait I would imagine.
I smiled at the photo sequence at the sewing class. Your mum looks great!
Yes, I was aware that it has been Mothering Sunday in the UK. This morning one of my neighbors came round with some mail that was mis-delivered. It was my Mother's Day card. (Exactly a week late!)Your flowers are gorgeous I must say and the cake looks delicious. My sponges never turn out like that.
Your son was lucky to have also met the artist. I'm looking forward to seeing your photos next week.
Have a good one (week, or weekend, read as desired)
Hugs,
Lisca

That white iris is beautiful and it is indeed perfect.
The exhibition sounds interesting. I would have liked to see the giants.
I remember on one of our eurocamp holidays, back in the day, when the boys were old enough to leave at the camp, and Chris and I queued for hours and hours to get into the Dali exhibition. It was worth it though.
That is a very generously filled victoria sandwich. I don't think I could have resisted a slice either.
Your flowers are lovely. What beautiful colours the roses are.
Hope you have another good week ahead of you. Kate xx
